Scores - The Score Tabulations Guide
Submitted by knuckles_sonic8
This is a guide listing what the calculations at the end represent and how you can obtain a good score on any of the stages.
I'm positive this will be of great interest to all of you (especially you suspicious ones who question people's scores here for SSR competition).
First of all, the following is a list of ways in which you will earn points for:
-Pearls, Rich Pearls
-Time Break, Speed Break
-Grinding rails
-Rings, Rich Rings
-Defeating enemies/bosses
Here is more info on the actual bonuses you earn at the end of each stage:
*This guide contains some spoilers on the bosses. Be forewarned…
1. Action Bonus
Encompasses the following 4 areas:
• Pearls
You, basically, get one point for each Pearl you collect. If you get more Pearls than your Soul Gauge can hold, they still account for points. In addition, using Time Break or Speed Break will not decrease your score here.
• Time Break
This one’s a little more complicated. When you use Time Break for 3 seconds, you will earn 30 points. After those 3 seconds, the number of times you use Time Break x 10 points will be added for every second you use it. Did I confuse you there?
*This area can earn you a maximum of 1000 points in total.
• Speed Break
The distance you travel at one time plus the normal formula for Speed and Time Break: number of times you use it x 10 points.
*As was the case with Time Break, this area can earn you a maximum of 1000 points in total.
Note: Apparently, according to the official guide, an exclusive point addition is used in Sand Oasis. Half the distance you travel on rails will be “counted as 1â€. I have yet to figure this one out but I’m sure one of you devoted players like SL or Rolken can figure it out…
• Rails
The score is calculated by this formula:
Score=D / 2
*d is the distance you travel on rails
In addition, the number of times you proceed from one rail to the other in sequence accounts for even more points.
*This area can earn you a maximum of 1000 points in total.
***All of the four above areas, added together, account for your Action Bonus.
2. Enemy Bonus
Encompasses:
• Enemies
The score is calculated by this formula:
Score=N x 50
*n is the number of enemies you defeat
• Bosses
The score is calculated depending on which boss you’re facing:
Sand Scorpion: 1000
Ifrit: 3000
Captain Bemoth: 2000
Erazor: 4000
Alf Layla wa-Layla/Final Boss: 4000
3. Ring Bonus
The score is calculated by this formula:
Score=N x 3
*n is the number of rings you collect
(e.g, in my Skeleton Dome video (Uhu mission), I had 34 at the end but because of the Ring Bonus, I technically only got 29; 29 times 3 is 87, and that was my final score.)
Note: Any Ring Bonus skill will not give you any points here.
Note: Any rings over your maximum you collect still account for points. Keep that in mind!
4. Technical Bonus
This bonus is determined by how many times you die and how many times you hit things like enemies and traps, stuff like that. You lose about .1 per hit I believe (not sure, don’t quote me on that. I’m pretty sure the max is 2.0. (See my Skeleton Dome and Sand Oasis vids. In both, I neither died nor hit anything and got a Tech Bonus of 2.0; in my Night Palace vid, I got 1.2 as I hit a couple things.)
The bonus is, essentially, a multiplier of your score from the other three bonuses.
I’m confident this information will help you all in Score Runs. Then you’ll think twice before questioning everyone for their scores. (Not mentioning names… *ahem*)
