Max Rings - (Near) Perfect in Crazy Gadget 5

Close to Perfect in Crazy Gadget 5
This is guide is meant to help you get as close to Perfect as possible (or Perfect in the case of Gamecube) in this mission. I've set this up in a checklist-like format, which basically means I'll be holding your hand through the whole thing. If you don't like it, TOUGH! Go get a Perfect on your own!
Before I start, I would like to explain some of the terminology used in this guide.
Directions - whenever I talk about shifting gravity, I indicate a direction. Most times it's obvious what I'm talking about, but just to clear things up:
Note: These directions are all relative the camera, situated behind Sonic as he enters a room.
Normalize gravity - Shift gravity so that Sonic is pulled toward the floor, like in the other levels.
Reverse gravity - Shift gravity so that Sonic is pulled toward the ceiling.
Shift left - Shift gravity so that Sonic is pulled toward the left side of the level.
Shift right - Shift gravity so that Sonic is pulled toward the right side of the level.
Shift forward - Shift gravity so that Sonic is pulled away from the screen (toward the Goal Ring).
AC - Artifical Chaos
RA - Ring Attack
Okay, here we go:
NOTE: You need the Flame Ring to get all the rings in this mission. You should have it unless you're playing on a file that has minimal upgrades.
Also note that there is one change in the locations of rings between the Gamecube and Dreamcast versions. If something is different for Dreamcast I will put the difference in brackets []. Also, for the numbers in parentheses after the directions, the number to the left of the slash is the number of rings you'll have at that point for Gamecube version and the number to the right is for Dreamcast version.
-Get the 3 rings in front of you. (3/3)
-[Dreamcast: Get the 5-ring box when the hallway turns. Gamecube players get an AC instead. :(] (3/8)
-Get the 7 rings on the rail on the ceiling. (10/15)
-Move along and get the 8 rings on the ceiling. (18/23)
-Normalize gravity and go to the next room. There are 8 rings on the floor in this room. (26/31)
-Go up the two pulleys and hit the checkpoint for 5 rings. (31/36)
-Get the six rings right after the checkpoint. (37/42)
-Go into the high-speed warp tube. After you are deposited in the new area, spindash-jump into the AC then jump back and get the 6 rings in front of you. (43/48)
-Spindash-jump to the spring and get to the other side. Reverse gravity, then scale the wall (either through Bouncing up the undestructable crates or Superbouncing). At the top are 3 rings. (46/51)
-Bounce Attack over the checkpoint and get the 10-ring box. (56/61)
*A split here:
-Dreamcast: Simply hit the checkpoint for 20 rings.
-Gamecube: Go past the checkpoint and collect 4 rings on the rail ahead, then jump and turn around and hit the checkpoint for 20 rings. Get the remaining 3 rings on the rail.
-Dreamcast: Get all 7 rings on the rail ahead.
-Totals so far: (83/88)
*End split
-Get the 6 rings in front of you when you land. (89/94)
-Shift gravity toward the left wall, then go to the end (past the gravity switch) and get the shield there. Destroy the AC then shift gravity to be sent to the right wall, and run down it. Destroy the AC, then get the 5 rings hovering 'over' the rail. (94/99)
-You will probably be sent toward the back wall if you were crouching on the rail. Destroy the AC and go back toward the rail to get the 4 rings there. (98/103)
-After the turn in the hallway you're in, there will be 6 rings to collect. (104/109)
-Past the 2 beetles, there are 4 rings to collect. (108/113)
-Fall down and destroy the 2 ACs there (which will in turn destroy all the cells). If you want, head toward the back of the room (toward the camera). Locate the Ancient Shrine on the left side of the room and jump on it. If you miss, hurry and get on it before your temporary invincibility wears out. Play the Mystic Melody and jump on the platform that appears to get the Magnetic Shield. Note that the platform is shifted very slightly toward the camera a bit relative to the shrine, so adjust your jump accordingly.
-Go to the next room and ride the rail, getting the 7 rings on it. (115/120)
-At the turn is a 5-ring box you should collect. (120/125)
-Ride the rail shortly afterwards for 7 more rings. (127/132)
-Get to the top, then Homing Attack across the beetles and the AC. After that, Light Dash across the 6 rings. (133/138)
-Hit or skip the checkpoint depending on your shield preference. Get the 6 rings that lie just beyond. (139/144)
-Use the warp tube and when you are deposited, grind the rail and Homing Attack the beetles. Destroy the AC at the top to make life easier as well. Reverse gravity, the get to the top via either the boxes or Superbouncing. Break the steel container and go through the narrow hole. Get the 4 rings here. (143/148)
-Proceed through the path until you reach an acid pit. Homing Attack the enemies or Spindash-jump to get to the other side. Hit the middle steel container and bounce to the bottom of the room (normalizing gravity). Destroy the AC there and Light Dash across the huge arc of 49(!) rings. (192/197)
-Destroy the 2 cell-spawning ACs [Dreamcast: 1 AC], and when you make the turn in the hallway, there will be 8 rings there. (200/205)
-Continue through the winding hallway until you reach the end. Go into the warp tube. There are 5 rings in front of you. Destroy the 2 ACs behind them first. (205/210)
-Now, a tricky part. You must traverse the narrow beam whilst avoiding the lasers to get to the upper entrance. Spindash-jump the beetle but DO NOT HOLD DOWN A; otherwise, you'll fly up and hit the lasers. Go through the entrance and get the 3 5-ring boxes there. DO NOT REVERSE GRAVITY AND DO NOT GO ANY FARTHER. (220/225)
-Go back down, and enter the lower entrance. You're doing this because the door won't open from the other side (the side you would be on had you continued on). Get the 5-ring box here. (225/230)
-Get to the top of the next room, and hit or skip the checkpoint as you see fit. After the checkpoint, hit the switch then hit the middle speed booster to get the 11 rings automatically. (236/241)
-Reverse gravity, then on the purple block, hit the first gravity switch you see to normalize gravity. You'll land on the green block. Get the 2 20-ring boxes here. (276/281)
-Reverse gravity again, and on the purple block, shift gravity to the left, then on the green block, Light Dash the 7 rings there. (283/288)
-Shift gravity to the right, wait a few seconds, then shift it back to the left while holding Down. Hit the switch before the indestructible box lands on it. Then shift gravity back to the right. Then on the yellow block, get the 10 rings there. (293/298)
-Homing Attack the beetle and get to the blue block. Light Dash the 6 rings there. (299/304)
-Normalize gravity. Shift gravity forward, then bounce up the spring and onto the "upper" yellow platform. Light Dash (faster) or use the spring (slower) to get the rings on the rail here. (320/325)
-On the green block, hit the spring to be launched to the purple block. On the purple block, get the 3 rings then jump to the blue block. A normal jump is sufficient and no extra height is needed. Be careful of the laser upon landing, though. (323/328)
-Hit the 5-ring box on the blue block. Or better yet, try to Homing Attack into it to minimize the chance of landing on the laser. (328/333)
-Shift gravity to the left, and get to the end of the purple block path. Reverse gravity, and on the red block hit the gravity switch straight ahead to normalize gravity and land on the final platform.
-Launch the rocket and hit the Goal Ring. Gamecube users will have a Perfect 328/328 and Dreamcast users will have 333/337.
And there you have it. Perfect (for Gamecube at least) in Crazy Gadget 5.
