I have newfound respect for sonic heros records and players!

oh my holy god this is by far; the most random, ridiculous, frustrating, sonic game you can play when you have to start playing for perfection.  I have thrown or hit my controller like 50 times and I am not even going for perfect records yet!

First off, the controls and your partners suck. Unlike most, I think the teamwork part of the game is actually pretty fun when going for times, but the problem is everything is so random and jumpy, sometimes you change partners and get screwed cause you hit the dash button(sonic) a split second before they decide to switch off. If you try to switch to fly formation when characters are off screen you get screwed cause it slows you down, and if you fly instantly you don't go high enough and have to start over. I think that sucks!

Then the controls.. I have gotten reasonably close to the grand metropolis record and  many parts of that level suck! half the time when you try to change direction it goes the opposite of what you hit, especially that first turn at the beginning on the blue speed stuff.. many times I hit the stupid boxes cause the control sucks! Then there is the fact you cannot change direction in mid air after most ramps, which screws you when you try to level up from the second checkpoint... hmm

oh yeah, the hit detection is really frustrating. you have to be 5 feet away from an enemy to not hit him, cutting perfectly to the side of the enemy will screw you and that is stupid. I even taped a run and played it in 1 frame per second slow motion to prove that you can easily take a hit even though none of the characters pixels collide with the enemies pixels! Just gotta live with it I guess..theres a million other bs things that happen too, but I think all SH players already know about them so I do not need to list them all day long.

Now I totally understand why SJ sounds like a frustrated MADMAN ready to KILL someone when he plays this game (based off some of his comments) cause this game has some COMPLETELY unfair parts to it and we all know that SUCKS!

I thought SA2B was bad where 75% of the times I had to start over was due to a fault or glitch from the game, on this game it is like 99%!! I pretty much never screw up cause it is so easy! yet so impossible.....thanks randomness and stupid bs! Still a fun game..but god it coulda been a whole lot less frustrating with the right fixes....

Biggest issue I have is the team system.  In my latest attempts at levels in the game (mostly Rail Canyon), I have had to restart tons of times because the others refuse to do what I want them.  The issue involving switching to flight with characters off-screen is the worst when it's the power character (who brings you to a dead stop).  Several times, I try to get surefire results by switching to power first, then quickly switch to flight in that case (but even then, that doesn't always work).

The biggest issue I have with controls is on the pinball tables.  Great idea, but poorly implemented.  Try to go where you want to go and the tables will fuck you over 9 times out of 10.  The blue path after the first turn on Grand Metropolis is different for me.  Instead of the direction you want to go being the thing that changes, it's the direction the blue stuff is moving that changes (it's happened a few times as soon as I touched it).  As for the issue with getting to the second checkpoint, that can easily be avoided by hitting the ramp right in the center.
The game is decent for normal play, but is a frustrating choice for competing in.

I only have massive problems with speedrun Team Rose's levels because of their messed up rocket accel and I have problems on both time attacking and score attacking both of the casino stages because of the messed up pinball controls.
Shortcuts I have discovered: SSR Skeleton Dome Mission 12 Gate ditch, SA2 Battle: spring dodge.

I have the same belief here. Yeah, the game is amazingly frustrating, but after playing it endlessly for 4 years or so somehow you get used to the frustration. That is when you start to get good at the game. Just make sure not to destroy your game or something along those years. I'm glad you finally see how much effort us Sonic Heroes players exert in order to acheive our goals!

Hahahahahahahahahahaha great! I know I can't SA it due to the "don't damage a enemy but gain points for the combo" thing. xD

Yeah I don't even know why I said what I said.. it is fun for casual play, but fast times really suck! I know going straight down the middle lines you up for the checkpoint, but thanks to the controls I mess that up every 1 in 4 runs.. and, yet again thanks to the controls, you cannot fix it without wasting at least a second no matter what you do.

Yeah, you guys are amazing! There is so much luck involved in getting speed boosts, plus all of the bs that can happen, makes for an amazing record if you get every thing to go right. Luck requires consistency, so you don't screw up an amazing run when everything finally goes right which to me is a skill in itself. The hardest part of this game for me is not getting mad at the game, which destroys my ability to play well. When I compete in a game and make my own fault I can usually keep calm for hours, but if it is the game that is screwing me I get upset within minutes and all I can do is shout at the game and ask why can't it stop doing all the bs to me! I won't give up yet though, but I will be lucky to ever get a sonic time record.

Hey, good to be around.. but I never really left, it has only been a week or so since I posted here. I like your young SU championship! I hope you manage to keep it! Just push every level to FR extent and you should remain the best :P
