My 3D Artwork. (topic name changed due to specifics >_>)
« on: October 15, 2008, 02:31:36 am »
This is a topic that I hope will either inspire people, or at least have people give me a few kudos ^_^

This was inspired, actually, by a misread-post.

I had seen the picture Mecha Ashura posted as a picture he turned into a poster, and I thought he MADE the picture.  When I read page 2, I saw that this was debunked, but I was inspired before that point.

So I hopped on Blender and did my best to replicate, in 3D, something that we all know and love... A LAMPPOST!

Yes, I know the cone is supposed to be yellow, but for whatever reason, the texture didn't apply properly, and I already had a picture...

I'm still new to this, so nothing too complex, but I'd like to take requests for things to build in 3D...

Just for shits and giggles.

Also, if anyone wants the .blend files for these projects, as long as you give me credit for it, I'll be more than happy to PM them to you.

Actually, I've already pondered how it spins, and while it'll take some work, I think I can make it work.  I'll make an animation at some point

Metallic?  I can arrange that for future projects.  The only reason I didn't do it there was because I was on my other computer...  Blender and that comp don't exactly get along well... and rending takes long enough as it is (about 3-4 minutes without raytrace...)

Motobug, huh?  I should be able to do that fairly well...  I mean, I might have to read some tuts on it, so I'll be learning as I go, but I think it'll come out fairly well.  I appreciate the idea and the vote of confidence.  I should have one up tonight, and if I don't, I'll post pictures of whatever I have done.  I want to keep this active as I can, and if I get this good of a response to each update, I'll gladly keep working on it...

I don't really have a long-term goal, but I do enjoy doing this..  Maybe I could make a 3D logo for the site at some point?

But I won't be so ambitious, yet...

Oh man, G-silver over at the GHZ made a fucking bangin' low poly Crabmeat a while ago.
Ooo, actually I happen to have it on my photobucket for some reason.

Inspires me, I think I have some free time in the future so I must take some time out to do something like this, never done low-poly stuff before.

Totally awesome crabmeat.  Hopefully, I'll be able to make one better than that... I want EVIL to be written over my personal projects at some point, ala Contra/Phantasy Star, but until then, I'll stick to replications ^_^

Also, while I was working on my Motobug, I came across a tut for better rendering of metallic objects.  I was doing it the hard way before, but now I have it down, so I made another version of the lamppost.

I have the wheel and the back done, complete with airvents...  hopefully I should be done by tonight...

Any thoughts on textures/metallic effects/lighting for it?  Taking any specific requests pertaining to the bug...  any thoughts?

yeah, I made it a little too shiny...  the silver piece was the part I was trying to get right, and then I tested how that material would look (color differences against it) for the other peices...

BWAHA!

Here you guys are, a Motobug in all it's glory!

The arms are pure silver, yes, but it's partially because I joined the objects before I applied materials, and partially because I like shiny silver stuff ^_^

I could've fixed it, but it looked better this way... ^_^

So without further ado, here ya are... a Motobug, as requested...

A Caterkiller for the Furry...  Not a problem at all...

This one might take a little while, as I'm currently working on two projects now.  I'll prioritize this one, though, since it was requested in the forums, and because the other one is actually rather difficult...

Hey, lookit' me, I've gotten a Caterkiller built!

Also, looking at it as I do, I believe the Caterkillers must be magnetically linked ^_^

Here's the Caterkiller, as was requested by PPA:

Am I getting better?

Also, what's up next?  I'm working (though slowly) on a Silver Sonic, but it's a LOT of work so far... it won't be done for awhile...  so what else can I be distracted by in the mean time?

Well, much like that Motobug is a bit of a tribute to Minus and his faith in my ability to produce such a thing, that Caterkiller is in honor of your Caterkiller sketches you've posted in your topic.  I can't draw comics, but because you guys are showing interest, the least I can do is show my respect for such things.

Also, I know now how to add 3D text in a simple fashion, so I may start writing the names of the tribute'd party into the final render, if it is so desired...

I'm currently working on your emerald... it was easy enough to make them, but I'm trying to make it so that they act like colored glass...  the light going through them and coloring the table beneath them...  I have to learn to do it, but I'm getting there ^_^

Sorry for double post, but I finally figured out what I was doing wrong, and the rest of the equation was purely doing ^_^

Here you are, CrUiZ3R...  Your own set of 3D Chaos Emeralds!

EDIT:  I made a better set of them, now....  I wanted to make them more alive, since, as Eredani pointed out, they seemed too much like normal glass...

I post them both here, and you guys can use either as they exist...

I originally built it with 6, but it didn't look quite right... so I rebuilt it with seven...

What's next, and who am I attributing them to?

How about...um... a baby Chao? I dunno.

If that's too hard, perhaps the good ol' Checker-Wrecker-Ball-mobile?

I have wanted to make the Eggmobile as a transitive model.  I suppose the classic Checker Wrecker (Me likes) could be a very good first adaptation to it...

A chao would probably be a good idea as well... and though not posted yet, I do have a ring design done as a test of the new raytracing renderer

back to work...

Here ye be, the Eggmobile!

I'd also like to note that this is only the first incarnation, and that I forgot to save after I exported/rendered this picture.  To turn it into the Checker Wrecker, I'll have to work on it more as well as making my head less hurt.

I did, however, in my exploring how to paint the Eggmobile, figure out out how make the checker form look proper from all angles.

YAY TECHNOLOGY!
