Music similarity?
« on: January 09, 2008, 10:46:12 am »
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiSP3kWiTPs  Volcano Valley 1 Genesis
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qZLTYb7mvA  Sky Troops
O_o
Am I the only one who sees the resemblance?
And, post any other music similarities.  There are the obvious S3D/SA ones (Green Grove/Windy Valley and Panic Puppet/Twinkle Park) and I read one here about Electric Egg matching His World.

Sky Troops and Volcano Valley... really? *listens* ... heh, interesting

anyway here are others:

Sonic Heroes theme song sounds like the intro to America's Funniest Home Videos

Silver's theme (Dreams of an Absolution) is based on Green Hill's tune

Mephiles boss theme borrows sounds from Death Egg from Sonic 2

I remember reading that Final Fortress sounded similar to the 24 theme, but I haven't listened to the 24 theme to test.

I know Zeupar.  Didn't feel like bumping.
I heard somewhere that the outside of Red Mountain has a similar sequence to Mystic Cave (either 1p or 2p, can't remember).  I haven't found it yet, does anyone else know?

Green hills zone: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=lYpWyYAgPNE&feature=related
and "You can do anything" : http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=i3cFn6NneHA

deffinately have a musical connection.

Never would have noticed the Volcano valley/ Sky troops similarity, but it's deffinately there.

Is it back?  I guess it's back.
Two new games since this was last discussed.  Practically all of the Chronicles music was borrowed liberally from previous games, it would take too long to discuss those.  As for Sonic Unleashed...  the whole Savannah Citadel/S1GG Ending thing has been discussed to death.  I noted that the World Map theme (which Sonic was whistling in the werewolf teaser) bears some similarities to the original Angel Island theme.
Oh, and slightly old, but now that I've heard a fair amount of SRA's soundtrack, more than the style was copied.  Sky Babylon/Jeh Jeh Rocket; Plant Kingdom/Right Here, Ride On; Big Swell/Wrapped in Black.

Minus let's not forget that the final Hidden Island in SRA was Rush's first level in its entirety. >_>
The moon is so red. Looks like it's going to be a fun night.

Here's one for y'all: The pre-Mad Matrix Cutscene from Shadow vs. the Mystic something zone from Sonic 2.

Mystic Cave?  As I said earlier, that's also supposed to be connected to Red Mountain.  Freaky.

Sonic Advance 3's Chaos Angel Map is a slower version of Holy Summit's stage music.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqNBcDeH8GM

For those of you that can't see it:

Compare 0:00-0:03 in the first one
then from 0:00-0:05 in the second

then go to 8 seconds in the first
and up to 11 seconds in the second

25 to 32 in the first
11 to 22 in the second

Both songs keep the same rhythm and then start going off from their openings and start to get complex afterwords.  The similarities mostly stop there as Holy Summit is a much more longer song.

THANK YOU QUARTZ
I was looking for that video.  <_<

Though it still disappoints me that they never say what Launch Base is similar to.  That to me is the most obvious.
