Action Replay and any other cheating devices are banned for competition.

AR/any cheating devices = ban, no exceptions.

as much as I think that a lot of AR codes and other such things should be allowed, such as the one you mentioned, all cheating devices and emulator functions are banned unless otherwise stated in the rules, for simplicity and to stop noobs/newbs from whining

AR codes like infinite lives I'd say are allowed.

Infinite and 99 lives are allowed, I believe even SM uses them. It should really be things that effect your gameplay, and I think the camera would effect it a lot since it does to me >_>

AR codes, as far as I believe, are generally allowed under the circumstance that they do not affect normal gameplay or a TA / SA / RA / BA etc. For example, if you have infinite rings on and do a TA, the TA is invalid if you get hurt. Still, as others can't tell what you did, we'd probably not allow it or have difficulty trusting you. simply because it has the chance of affecting normal gameplay. In general, infinite lives should be the only code ever used.

Now, about the code you mentioned, I believe there are points in SADX (iirc) where free camera is disabled. I am very unsure about how the code works and thus I cannot say for sure that it is legal. If it prevents the game from turning off free camera at specific points in the game, then it's illegal because it messes around with what is supposed to happen in the game and you should not use it. Can you describe why you are using the code and why you just don't turn on free camera yourself? Maybe then we can truly assess the legality of your code use.

Normally, such as while recording a record attempt, I avoid all such codes, but I do perform test runs on occasion, and sometimes I end up beating my previous record during a test run in which a 99 lives code is on.  I asked in IRC about any objections to submitting these times when "99 lives" was active, and the regulars present in the room were fine with it.  To date, I recall two such submissions of mine, neither of which remains my best: the 2:10 Crazy Gadget 1 (which generated a "partial" video showing my ending route at the time), as well as one of the earlier Cannon's Core 5s (either the 2:03.74 or the 1:59.45).

I don't really mind seeing codes whose only effect is to alter how frequently you have to reset the game after failed attempts.  Changes to the physics rules are of course out, which is why I don't have, say, under-2:00 Eternal Engine submitted to TSC, but freezing the lives variable serves much the same purpose as, say, putting a savestate on level select so that you don't have to re-enter the button sequence to reactivate level select after every 1 or 3 fails, and that practice is widely acceptable here.

i never use codes for making records (i only use ar to mess around and find glitches) and for sonic dx i do a lot better with free camera but this topic is just about like codes we can use and stuff (i never used always free camera code for records)
Btw.......i forgot to add (aministartors please read) becuse i was wondering what codes we could use

Now see this is why we need general rules up. They used to say that "Any device that modifies the game (GameShark, Action Replay, etc) is not allowed". Or something similar. But the point stands. We wouldn't get stupid topics like this if the rules were clear.

On a side note, I miss the days when we used to make rules on common sense rather than trying to exploit circumstances to the fullest extent :/

If you listened to me this topic wouldn't even be here. If you really wanted the general rules up again why didn't you put them up when I mentioned them days ago in chat and even made a topic for it here. If only Dr. Rolken could do that then, mention it to him already >_>!

I almost always have 99 lives.
But not through AR. I'm just obsessed with having 99 all the time, so every time I lose some, I go to Knuckles' Wild Canyon 5 and collect more.
That level is great for life harvesting! You can get around 5 lives every time you visit. And fast, too!
