When I go to that page, it says action canceled........ Wait, I need to run the program beforehand, right? And do I need to log into aim?

I HOPE YOU DO

It's not AIM, it's IRC. You need mIRC or some other IRC client.

I've never got idle disconnects on the server we're using...

AIM is way more common than IRC, and you dont have the hassle of connecting to some random crap server that only 2 people can connect to.  stick with what worked.  you're not going to get a lot more members by making things more difficult.  there's no reason to use irc.
...Uh what? IRC works, you DID something wrong, even if you don't know it. Seriously... In 99% of the cases, people can download IRC and use it just fine, I'm in the chat room right now. The fact that blueblaze had problems connecting isn't surprising, but don't think EVERYONE have problems with it. Rolken said it all. IRC > AIM.

What's the point to using IRC?  I thought you were trying to get more members.  More members are going to have AIM than IRC.  There's no reason to use IRC for something like this.  It's just a chat.  You're not trying to dcc warez to people.

My goal for the chat room is not to have the maximum number of members, but to be useful to the members who are most interested. AIM is a crappy method for group chat because there is zero moderation.

Plus, well, you were outvoted 6-2. If you know of another server that isn't huge or crappy, perhaps we could switch, but we're not going back to AIM.
