News and Updates / Re: Oh, boy! The hype is real!
« on: August 16, 2017, 07:30:33 am »
I thought it was good, but a little disappointing.  I went into the game expecting a few rehashed stages and the rest being new content, with maybe the occasional reused asset.  Instead, I got Generations 2.

I always avoid Sonic news after the first gameplay footage to keep my expectations low and avoid disappointment (which worked very well for Sonic Boom), but this is the first time that had the exact opposite effect.  For the next 2D game, I'll go into it expecting no originality at all and maybe I'll like it more

Also, the special stages are almost as awful as Sonic CD's.

2
For Sonic games, I've learned avoiding hype is the best way to avoid potential disappointment.  After three 3D games being only appealing enough to 100% and another where only a glitch kept me playing after beating it, I'm not expecting much from this one.

That said, I'm not as big a fan of 2D Sonic games as I am of 3D.  I'll likely 100% Sonic Mania and TA a couple levels, but that's it.

The only thing I'm kinda excited for is the level pack for Lego Dimensions.

3
It cant be a tied record, you have to beat a beatable record. plus I want codegirl to yell it loud and proud in the tsc chat...maybe with some strob lights too.
But by beating a tied record, that tie is now beatable.

4
I mastered every special stage in the game (except one, apparently). Of course it's easy for me to do quickly. I could tie any of those records in 30 minutes of trying.

The rules didn't say I couldn't claim it when I posted. There was no padding. Improving one of these times was on my list for a while, anyway.

5
I doubt anyone would care about this in the first place

they only have 4 games to choose from: generations 3ds is maxed out, no one's competing in either asr, and no one's playing free riders

also, starlight glimmer is still worst pony

8
It's not too bad playing the game for fun or submitting on TSC as long as you turn the way the game wants you to (which it doesn't properly explain anywhere).  It only becomes a problem if you try to S-rank every story level because the steering isn't precise enough.

9
Turning tip:  When you lean, hold your arm out in that direction as well.

Information Kiosk / Re: Some suggestions and questions regarding charts
« on: October 28, 2015, 09:02:18 am »
we use to have a place dedicated for fan made games that didn't go very well. but the real problem I think, was the only way to get to it was clicking a small random icon with no description attached to it in the left side bar. I was here for like 4 or 5 years before I learned it existed, and now its gone... and if its still some where in anyform they are hiding it even better now.

At this point I dont think anyone would be against adding fan made games or extra charts to existing games, the real road block we have is that theres only like one person here who knows how to add charts to this site, and that person is busy like all the time.

You mean this site: http://unofficial.soniccenter.org/ ? It seems to be down. Do you remember how this icon looked like maybe? Just wondering.

I hope the TSC adds glitch less run version charts for the games. That way they can have both glitch used records and normal records for that category of the games.

People will always disagree on what should be considered a glitch, and as Paraxade put it in an interview from a few years ago, you'd have to make a ruling on a lot of things more subtle than breaking out of bounds or blast glitching.
blah blah loltssz

Score Charts for:
-Sonic Unleashed PS3/360

As for SU360: My argument is the same as for SH, but there are some stages that dont have any glitch, that allow for infinite combo bonuses (Windmill Isle 1 maybe?) So maybe add at least those?

This is the only one I feel strongly about.  The reason given for removing all night score charts was "due to infinite score potential in the majority of stages", which I still think is BS 6 years later.  It's not like there's only one stage unaffected.  4 of the 12 on-disc stages don't have the exploit, while 7 of the 16 DLC stages don't.

Anything that's not Generations 3DS.

Of the ones I've tried, Sonic CD's are the worst.  Apparently the UFOs being stationary was too easy...

Wikkity! / Re: What's your CRAZIEST run on TSC?
« on: December 20, 2014, 04:41:45 pm »
I'd go with my time on ZERO in SA1.  A day or two after getting the Dreamcast version, I was able to beat the previous records by .05 on my first successful run.  I decided to make a video of it, so I tried it again and somehow got 8.16 seconds.  I still don't know how I beat them by so much.

I've been here for 9 of these years, and happened to join on the 2nd anniversary.  Guess I have 2 things to celebrate today.

Herpy Derpday TSC!!!

At first, I thought there was an extra letter in "Derpday", and I was thinking it's a few months early for that.

Might as well post what I've watched since Clannad 3 years ago.

Fruits Basket, Kanon, Air, Haruhi Suzumiya (both "seasons" and the spin-offs), Chobits, Now and Then Here and There, Highschool of the Dead, Death Note, Angel Beats, Lucky Star, School Rumble, Code Geass (both seasons), K-On! (season 1), School Days, Soul Eater, Blue Exorcist

I have 19 on my watch list, but I've kinda lost interest in anime lately.

Do stay away from the anime adaptation of Umineko No Naku Koro Ni. It is considered amongst the worst animes of 2009 and for good reason. That and as an adaptation its even worse. An insult to its source material.

This is wrong. The correct way to put this is "STAY AWAY FROM VN ADAPTATION IN GENERAL"

I thought Clannad was pretty good.  My favorite anime, actually.

Some are exceptions. But VN adaptations are bad because they don't feel the same. Compare the Da Capo II anime to the Da Capo II VN. The VN is 10000 times better.

Only because you can't influence the story direction.

Although I agree that playing the VNs would be better, a lot of them are never released outside of Japan.  I've seen 4 adaptations, and only one VN has been officially translated (which, despite never having played, I'd definitely prefer over the anime simply because of the ending chosen).

Mine has a much shorter story behind it.

When I was 5 or 6, I had a Game Gear and Sonic 2 was one of the few games I had for it.  Never got past the first boss because it was too difficult.  A couple years later, I saw a couple Adventures of Sonic episodes and watched one of them many times (as well as a few minutes of one SatAM episode).

It wasn't until 2005 that I actually got into the series, starting with Sonic Heroes on PS2 (later moved to GC).

Wikkity! / Re: How you came up with your username!

For whatever reason, I liked the legendary Pokémon.  When I found a certain website in 2004, I decided to use it as my username.  When I joined GameFAQs later that year, I added the "199" because of that being its regional Pokédex number (and just the name was already taken).

Before we make a regrettable mistake:

http://www.soniccenter.org/rankings/sonic_rush_adventure/extra

SG3DS saves mission stats, and not only does SRA not do that, you barely have enough time to see what your stat was.

Perhaps we should change platforms and host the EC's on Youtube and display the challenges there, then players could submit challenge attempts as video responses.

Video responses aren't a thing anymore.

If ASR(T) multiplayer is done again, I could take part in that.

Sonic Unleashed (HD)
Shadow the Hedgehog
almost everything else I've submitted stats for
Sonic Rivals
Sonic Labyrinth

but sometimes momentum doesn't want to work and you'll just randomly stop on a 1/4 loop (a ramp) like in the beginning of spring yard 1, if you spin off the spring to the left,  you'll stop before getting halfway up the ramp... it's annoying sometimes...

I can't replicate this.  Even if it only happens on 3DS, it's a minor glitch that doesn't help at all.

28
if we're gonna have seperate charts for the diferent versions of S1, should there be a S1 3DS chart too?
it does play slightly different (some good, some bad)

How different?  I've heard a few people say that, but they haven't given an example.

29
As far as I can tell there's nothing else that needs discussing, as far as rules go, they're gonna be similar to sonic 1 SMD, so regarding debug mode or pressing anything while the game is paused, although I'm not to familiar with debug mode of s1gba or of it even exists.

There's no debug code in this game.

30
I doubt spindash has an affect, although it might

I checked GH1 to see if it could be used to get back up the S slopes easier, but it's not possible to even get up the bottom one in this game.

I'd be okay with one set of ring charts.
