Competition Central / Re: Sonic Adventure Time Attack Glitch

Just some editing for some things I didn't mention when posting this.
The reason why I put option #1 is because you can still go into adventure mode for some boss battle ILs with Chaos that'll take 4.21 seconds less time.

Competition Central / Sonic Adventure Time Attack Glitch
« on: July 02, 2018, 07:18:19 pm »
Well, a new glitch was discovered allowing access to the last act in each zone in Sonic Adventure.

These are some exploits which it will occur from. Now, how do you do this glitch? Play any specific zone 256 times or more in a row. I think you have to finish as I (and many others) would've discovered this a long time ago if you didn't. Once you play said zone 256 times, you'll end up selecting another zone. This glitch can have a variety of effects with bytes and overflows, but it is possible for it to lay you in a further part of the zone than where the starting point is. This will allow for easy WR IL's. It is unknown whether this glitch works on DC or not if anybody cares enough to test it.
Now there are 3 main ways, we can deal with this.

1. Let people run wild with it (please don't choose this)
2. Ban it
3. Create freestyle categories using this glitch.

General Sonic / Re: The Easiest A Rank in SA2B

Might as well take advantage of the necromancy. City Escape and Metal Harbor 100 rings were pretty easy for me. I'd have to say City Escape because Metal Harbor requires the Light Speed Dash shoes (which you get in the stage) to get eings early on. Not having the treasure scope for Dry Lagoon Mission 5, I had to get it which isn't hard, but requires going to a totally different stage. I'd have to say that Wild Canyon Mission 1 was really easy for Knuckles/Rouge. This was because the layout was pretty obvious and getting emeralds fast without monitors was easy. For everybody, a lot of the timed missions on earlier stages were easy.
Anyways, I included having to get power-ups for my list. Without power-ups included, I'd say Metal Harbor 100 rings and Wild Canyon Mission 1. With getting power-ups included, I'd say City Escape 100 rings and Wild Canyon Mission 1.
Also, I don't remember doing Tails/Eggman much when I last played this game, so I don't know for them.

Beef / Re: Sonic R Times for all Characters

Actually this was already debated in the forums in this exact section. That was back in 2005. This says that this was already debated and I probably shouldn't be trying to bring the discussion back. Oh well. I'm going to lock this now.

Good point. It probably is a little too late to go ahead and change that about the charts. Thank you for bringing that up as I only checked a few videos to see that Super Sonic was used or not.

Beef / Sonic R Times for all Characters

I've noticed that stats for Sonic R are only valid if you use Super Sonic. This wouldn't be a problem except that since I only found out that Super Sonic was unlockable now, then I'd have to redo all of my stats. This is kind-of the point of speedrunning and I understand that, but the thing is that I feel that there should be categories for every character because most of the characters would not be considered useful and would not be used in rus unless this was a thing. The game even keeps track of your times for all of the characters, but only Super Sonic's times matter. It might be hard to rework the page to be like this, but you can probably assume that everybody either used Super Sonic or Sonic. Additionally, I know that the staff of this website has redone pages before like how they added all of the categories for Sonic Mania and Stage 4 for SA2.
I would really appreciate it if you did this site reworking. Thank you.

I can agree that we should have glitchless, but it would change the entire website and probably remove a lot of stats. I understand why we should have it, but the TSC probably shouldn't do it because of this. Pros would be what you just said about Sonic Riders and I also have experience with that as I usually have to grind quite a few runs to get frame perfect glitches that really shouldn't exist. Hope this helped with both sides of the argument.

Information Kiosk / For Sonic Chaos, can I use SADX for the category?
« on: August 06, 2017, 12:24:13 am »
So, I saw that we could use emulators for statistics. These are allowed in Sonic Chaos as well. I don't own a game gear, but I have Sonic Adventure DX on the GameCube. Can I submit stats that I got on the GameCube for Sonic Chaos?
