The fact that there's an untied record without subseconds for that long surprises me.
The fact that it belongs to Sprint does not.

Ohai Rolk. :o
Deep words.
Ah, the glory days. I think Bruce Springsteen wrote a song about them once. But those days were pretty fun. I was tearing up Adva2, trying my best at a few others... for a while I was pretty good. But after a few years it started getting stressful, and then life happened.
I started grad school. I picked up other hobbies. I found new [offline] friends. I got a job. I got a real job. Between that and people finding more ways to break the games (through glitches, etc.) I once had fun competing in, I wasn't having as fun competing as I originally had and I didn't have as much time to commit. So I backed off. Took a break. After all, if it's not fun, why bother? I went into a new cycle.
So far it seems to be going pretty well though. I finished that master's degree last week. I hit my one-year anniversary at my now-full-time job a couple months ago. I moved out (finally). Turns out I'm also a decent Warmachine player and an ok Magic player. To say I'm disappointed with where things are right now would be a pretty big lie.
I guess what I'm saying is change can be good.
I still dust off my Sonic games every once in a while. Heck, I'm competitive in nature so my speedrunning mind still takes hold every once in a while. (I'm also very rusty it turns out. And I still haven't technically finished Lost World 3DS...) Heck, I still poke around TSC every once in a while to see what's up. (How the hell am I still top 10 in Adva2!?)
Do I miss the old days? Sure. I miss BSing with Mike and RPG at odd hours of [my] night. I miss going back and forth with douglas on Adva2. (That got intense for a while. If you don't believe me, check out some of our many stat comments.) I remember the few records I had. The rom hack/DIY craze. Even a certain phase where myself, RPG, and Quartz (among others) all became basic bird Pokemon (Spearow, Starly, and Taillow) before SkyLghts brought an end to it. Heck, I even enjoyed the TSC Michigan meetup (and meetup redux when Mike was around). But I can't stand around reminiscing. People change. They grow. They move on.
I haven't submitted a stat in 3 1/2 years. I'm not disappointed... I just had a shift in priorities. Most people do. You can always look back. (I do. I remember when the chat topic in Wikkity was actually funny.) But you have to look forward too. Find your passion. Follow it. Let it change you. After all, when things get stagnant, that's when walls tend to be hit.

If I didn't have so much gorram packing to do I'd be SO ON THIS. Even though I'm super out of practice and CN (and probably Metropolis) will probably murder me. (And OO if I can't do the spindashes right.)

So I don't normally post at all. But y'know I saw something pop up that seemed weird.
Can you explain how you got 5.38 on Egg Hammertank II? Because from what I can tell, the only way you could've done it is using Easy Mode.
(Also noteworthy is that TA mode must be used for any time/boss division that's not XX or True Area 53.)
I know you have a pic, but that's what's making me think about it.

I should maybe post my FC that I'm too lazy to open my 3DS for right now. Not that anyone actually recognizes who I am unless you're super old school.
Not that I'm ever online either. Grad school and working full-time suck. I'm also on a temporary Pokemon break while I continue to swear at Lost World 3DS. (We're talking RPG levels of swearing here.)

Grats everyone. Wish I'd had time to watch more, I ended up having a friend in town and we went out a few times. I kinda stealthwatched on Sunday during Rivals 2/Shadow but I had to break away for D&D.
Glad to see things went well. I also watched the replay of Adva2. Combo do WAY better than I would have. Especially on bosses. Any commentary I would've had would include how terribad I am at bosses.

I'm around, just too lazy to log into chat half the time. >_>
Email is a good way to grab my attention. Weekends are good, I start school back again in September. Haven't looked into my lack of voice on a stream though. If all else fails I can put Skype on my laptop, Skype from there, and work into the stream from there.

Friday's completely out for me. I'm cool Thursday before 9 (EDT, after which I'm helping load test a server for something I'm doing Saturday), and otherwise not for another week-ish. (Busy weekend again.)
Thorn I'll actually try to be on chat tomorrow and maybe somehow organize something.

A lot of my stuff is kinda time-intense right now since the semester's almost over, but I'm still going to try to do something. I'll try to be online tomorrow evening (though at 9 I have to do a server test for someone), or Sunday (hangover permitting) to see if I can figure out how to do this stuff. Problem for me is that at current I have very little free time.

Competition Central / Re: Death abuse during IL's
« on: February 29, 2012, 05:39:16 pm »So how do you get 405 rings without deaths in AI 2? I was told death was OKAY as long as you didn't bring your score count over.I was specifically talking S2 Knuckles ring charts, because you keep the rings on death in S2K.
22
Competition Central / Re: Death abuse during IL's
« on: February 28, 2012, 06:58:10 am »
Some forms of dying are ok. In time runs you can die as many times as you want as long as you don't do so by time over, thus resetting the clock. Score runs must be done with no deaths at all, since the score's saved and you can just scalp off of that. Knuckles' ring charts work the same way, but that's mentioned in the rules.
But if you're just going for time and don't time over, you can die and restart from a check.
I suppose it depends on what you're trying to do.

It's at this time that I'd like to start calling for quality tests from prospective streamers/commentators (streamers should note that they'll have Skype running during their stream, eating some bandwidth).Yeah, at some point (Thursday or Sunday are my next free days in the coming week) I should see if I can even attempt it or not; someone's going to have to go over stuff with me, since I have no clue what I'm doing.

« on: January 13, 2012, 07:31:19 pm »I figured out how to stream console + skype decently on this internet so I'll do a test soon, but I can not for the life of me figure out how to do it well on emulator, which rules out the thoughts I had of running sonic 1 as well :(This is relevant information for me considering I'd be emulating Advance 2 since I have no webcams or GB players or any of that. But I haven't done any tests or anything on that since I am a complete dumbass when it comes to streaming since I've never done it before and I'm lazy.

^ Considering we're going for speed anyways, only necessary items going to be collected anyways. (Hover and lightspeed dash are both necessary for that; obviously things like armor powerups are going to be skipped.)
</nerdgasm>
How feasible is it to stream Gens/Kaillera netplay? (At least from one side, realistically you wouldn't need both players streaming.) Because realistically we'd want to remain as close to the actual game as we can.
So flying fox helped me test how viable a Mean Bean tournament would be for the marathon.YES. THIS MUST HAPPEN. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. AND YOU ARE ALL GOING DOWN, I OWN THIS GAME.

Thorn's trying to rope me in. >_>
No idea how I'd do the stream, but that can't be too hard (since clearly I'd emulate). Advance 2 I can do with quite a bit of confidence. I'm a bit rusty (since I haven't submitted anything in over 2 years), but once I start playing again the routes should come down. (Disclaimer: not so much for anything Music Plant, IP1 or TB2 not so much either.) I do have a controller so I should be able to airdash, which would put Sonic up for the run.
If need be I can do anything else in the advance series, but adv1 I'm just okay at, 3 would either be a lot of team juggling or me saying "screw it, S+T for everything, this is going to suck, especially CA3." I could do Rush too, but I hardly remember any of the routes.
Timing is a huge issue though, since I work full time and I'm in grad school. Weekends aren't an issue, but weekdays are. Mondays I have class, Tuesdays I go wargaming, Wednesdays class, Thursdays I usually go out drinking, Fridays are D&D. Though I am on spring break 2/20-2/24. (Might take that week off work too.)
Also I do have Skype for commentary. >_>
