Information Kiosk / Re: Site videos clearance

From Sonic Rush Adventure, all videos uploaded to TSC seem to be working on WMP (Don't know if having the K-Lite codec pack helped)

As for YT videos, these were broken:

Bosses/Ghost Rex (Sonic) by elecmouse101
Times/Hidden Island 5 (Sonic) by elecmouse101
Times/Hidden Island 5 (Blaze) by elecmouse101
Times/Hidden Island 9 (Sonic) by elecmouse101
Times/Red Emerald by MickX

also, SkyLights's Times/Hidden Island 2 (Blaze) shows up twice on the video list.

FF edit:
Strikethrough means it's been done

Wikkity! / Re: Topic 11 - Have you ever had a WTF moment in-game?
« on: January 01, 2015, 10:14:21 am »
Sonic games tend to cause a lot of WTF.

A few recent ones would be me spindashing right through the capsule at the end of SAdva's Angel Island 2 a few days ago.

And just now... this happened in Water Palace 1. I don't think I've ever gone OoB in the DS games until now.

E: Oh dear. I kept jumping up until I reached the top and... now Sonic can't decide if he's standing on the ceiling or the floor. Back 2 back, it's spinning on the back...

I've played quite a few Sonic games, but not all of them. I guess I'd like to try Generations 3DS or Lost World U, out of sheer curiosity more than anything else, since they seem pretty mediocre. I have both systems, but no interest in paying over $25 for either of these.

I'm also somewhat interested in Knuckles' Chaotix and Pocket Adventure, but I'm not getting a 32X or an NGPC anytime soon.

My favorites are Ghost Whale and Ghost Titan from SRA, and basically every boss from Advance 3. Yes, even the Twinkle Snow one. I also vaguely remember enjoying Dark Gaia in Unleashed SD.

Extra, huehue

I greatly dislike Ring Attack thanks to ? boxes and a lack of SRA maps. frickin sky babylon

Boss Attack is pretty fun at times, but constantly resetting due to RNG can get frustrating.

I guess it comes down to good old TA, but I don't really like it that much above everything else. And I exaggerated a bit when it comes to Rings. It can be fun, when the stars align and everything is just according to keikaku, anyway.

Wikkity! / Re: Do you speedrun non-Sonic games?
« on: December 04, 2014, 06:17:14 am »
Rockman X2, and also DuckTales Remastered. I was thinking of running Crash 2, but that speedrun is... a bit too demanding.

If I ever manage to get this DS modded for capture, I might run Mega Man ZX... But before ZX, I'm thinking of doing Rush Adventure full game runs.

With the VC emulations of handheld games, you won't need to worry about the speed. (As for the platforms where PAL/NTSC are a thing, I think they're all NTSC even on the Euro3DS)

General Sonic / Sonic Adventure 2 cutscenes @ 50Hz
« on: July 23, 2014, 09:39:43 am »
So, I was watching a video of SA2 HD in 4:3, and I thought it was pretty cool that the console version still supported 4:3 despite being a widescreen port. I decided to try this on my own PS3, and because you can only set it to 4:3 on standard def, and because PAL PS3s don't have a 480i option, I was stuck with 576i at 50Hz.

Apparently, the HD version was not optimized to run at the proper speed at 50Hz, unlike SA2B (And the DC original I'd assume), so it runs at a slower speed like it's the '90s. This of course sucks, but I noticed one little thing:

Since the cutscenes are also slower, the characters cut each other off far less often! And so I made a video.

Of course, sometimes the characters' lines are just way too fast, even for 50Hz, like in the cutscene prior to the second Sonic vs. Shadow battle. Regardless, I was thinking of recording a full 50Hz playthrough for the sake of science!

General Sonic / Re: Sonic Boom Trailer

The Wii U version looks like the most generic 3D beat-em-up platformer ever conceived with some speedy sections thrown in because gotta go fast. Also the in-level banter sounds even more irritating than in Heroes.

The 3DS game doesn't look all that great either, but seems... less offensive.

I'm liking the sound of all of this, especially uploading picture proof directly on-site.

Just one question though...

When setting the version for a stat, will we be able to set the game's region?

(E: Or would this just complicate things? I suppose only a few Sonic games have any real differences, except for PAL games on 6th gen / older consoles.)

I heard the iOS version has like widescreen support and playable Tails and Knuckles and stuff. None of that here AFAIK.

(That one really needs to be released on Steam...)

E:Also, is it just me or is the sound emulation... off in the 3D version? I can't hear much of a difference in the Gen1/Gen2 options but as a whole the music sounds kind of weird.

After the GameCube and 360, the 3DS (XL anyways) D-pad would probably make the third worst D-pad ever in my book. Out of the ones I've tried anyway.

E: Actually that touch pad thing on the SNES would be worse than any of the above, but I'm not sure if that would count, being third party and all

But... eww. Classic Collection is 256x192. That's no way to play MD/Gen :| And on 3DS it would look even worse than on a DS. i. or XL.

(Also, just like the Cave Story port, the 3D here is actually pretty fancy.)

Now if only the D-pad didn't suck...

Forgot this was coming out, thanks for the reminder. My MD isn't modded for NTSC (:<) so this is definitely worth the six bucks.

SonicandInuyasha, I remember you! You commented on that old Sunset Hill 2 video of mine. Good to see you're still playin'.

Hiya Folks / Um, hi.

Welp, about time I made an intro thread and my first post, sooo... hi. I'm a relatively unknown Finnish guy who goes by the nick TuKéZu or TuKeZu if a website is dumb and doesn't allow special characters. You can call me Tuke or TKZ or whatever ya want. (Pro tip; TuKéZu's pronounced To-Kay-Zoo)

I'm not quite sure how I found TSC. Maybe an SDA run linked it or something. After lurking around the charts I figured I wanted my own name up there, and thus I started competing in Rush Adventure, probably the only Sonic game I'm halfway decent at (which I owned around '09, traded in, and bought back last month).

I have a few YT channels as indicated by my sig; first is my "main" account where I have a bunch of random VG stuff. Tried to do some Finnish LPing in the last few years but I really don't have the charisma for that. My second is a sorta popular VGM channel (mostly just Mega Man though) which I kind of abandoned because YouTube sucks major ass now and the third's my alt. alt account, where I dumped an SRA vid or two.

...That's pretty much it. I've tried my hand at a lot of things, but I just end up not being very good at anything. Or maybe that's just my overly-self-deprecatory self talking. (That's a word, right...?)

Oh, and my favorite Sonics are SRA, Advance 3, Sonic 3 (not &K) and Adventure 2.

Somehow I knew this was going to become a wall of text.
