Competition Central / Paragod, possible shortcuts in Radical Highway
« on: April 11, 2007, 12:36:49 am »
Hey man, your video is SICK, with it I got a time that is 22nd in it.  I've noticed a couple of things that may speed you up a second or two, although i doubt anyone will be able to come near your current time :P

First, and i'm not totally sure on this one, after you do the first Y that splits into two loops, and you go through the tunnel, i've found if you hold down the charge and go off, you barely make it on, but you are on ground level so you can do a quick speed dash, may save some time.

Second, and i've only done this once, when you go up the first pulley, and hit the springs, i dunno how, but i hit the attack button and it stopped my fall and i landed directly onto the pavement without having to wait to land.  You start back farther than in your run, but with a speed dash i think you can save time.

Third, when you use the rocket to fly up, instead of jumping around the roller, just go at it and hold B to do ur spin dash, if you do it right before the roller, you actually go under it and directly into a spin charge (so instead of jump around, land, spin dash, you just spin dash)

I am not positive if this will speed you up since i'm no where near your skill level.  But i hope some of these things are helpful :-)

Also, as i'm trying to improve my time as well, how do you do the spin dash thing so fast?  And you have blue swirly stuff like a light speed attack does that effect anything?  I didn't get the light attack for shadow. :-/

oh, and sorry i've been MIA, running business, school, comic, about 5.5 hours of sleep a night -.-  this is the first time i've gotten to play video games i like a month

Man oh man!  I beat my record on a mission I BOTCHED.  I screwed up quiet a few things int he beginning, but i pulled a PERFECT truck run, MAN that helps with time.  So far I have done each area near perfect, just not in the same run lol >.> If only I could put it all togehter I know i could get in the top 15, if not top 10....

Current record: 2:06 (sadly).

I'll have to check what my flicky score was, i know i made a full loop (all the way back to the "house" style levels), like lvl 25 or something.  That game is actually really addictive lol.

I'll give it a shot :-)  It will help get my average time down, so far on a good run i pass the fence into the green field at about 1:03, even got a 1:00 one time.  I also got permission to upload, once i get my top 10 spot i'll upload the video.  Thanks again Paragod

I finally actually did the ramp -> wall -> over fence and bounce thingy finally, although i'm still working on it.  If I can do that with my other ones, i know i can get under 2 minutes, and hopefully soon get in the top 10.

It does.  Also, the area i keep getting hung up on is the stupid Gigantic drop.

I used to be able to jump the fence nad do that so easily, but now I can't seem to do it at all (i am not even trying ur corner of ramp bit lol, not that good yet).

Is there a secret or hint on how to do this easily?

yay 2:10 ^.^

Edit: I'm starting to improve on the first area, at the point where I crossed the gate that leads to the green hilly area, my time was only 5 seconds shy of Paragods ^.^

Edit2: Omg...i was on the truck chase and I accidently light speed dashed and I went through the wall and fell to my death O.o... and i got it on tape XD

Hey, also, are you the type that goes through the entire level, even if you make a couple big mistakes, or are you like me and restarts a LOT when u screw up?  I am starting to think maybe it's better to do the entire level regardless so i learn on everything instead of just the beginning first...

oh, and phew -.-, improved a second lol, but majorly screwed up in an area.  Your "signs" on the hill really helps :)  Thanks man.

Thanks a lot :-) When i get my homework done and stuff, and get back on it and try out your suggestions, maybe for now i'm trying TOO hard to do everything perfect, I need to work more on my controlling.

Also, sorry about the poor video quality, I had to compress it to get it uploaded faster.  Normally when I do gameplay, i keep it the raw format that i record on (which is near perfect) and use google uploader (i use my DXG 521 Roadster camera media center, it is a camcorder camera mp3 video player radio all in one deelio, and has a A/V input to record on, i recommend them to anyone, 150 bucks, not perfect but it's a nice all around).

Thanks again for the help, it's really nice knowing that you take the time to help out, it is very honorable and greatly appreciated :)

Ahhh, that's why (was always curious).

Thanks, I felt good doing that first half.  And yeah, Paragod's video was intense, not sure if i could ever beat that one, right now i'm struggling to just get under 2 minutes, maybe try to get in top 10 times or something.

Do you know though, is it worth it to go full spin power (because you slow down when you build up)?  Or do you loose time doing full power, and instead should do like 1/2 or 3/4 a full spin?

Thanks for all the help :)

I'm trying to improve my time, I got a clip, and although the 2nd half was horrible (everything kind of went wrong), can you tell me how i'm doing on the first half?  I've improved my bounce attack and think it was a pretty good first half, but any constructive criticism or tips are appreciated ^.^

Also, i've been watching paragod's time run, why does it seem like he initiates his speed ball faster, and it sounds higher pitched?  Is it just the audio or is there a trick that i'm missing?

General Sonic / Question on SA 2 Bounce Attack to Rail
« on: February 26, 2007, 01:18:01 am »
I'm starting to get my bounce attack down, able to do it pretty easily.  I'm working next on doing the bounce attack onto rails to go really fast.  Every time I try i end up hitting it but immediately jumping.  Is there some key to keep low?  Or just need to jump, bounce and then at last second attack, release the A button and hit the B for speed?

Thanks for your help :)

yay, 2:13.  I found out if you stop running when you hit the ramp in the green area, you land onthe hill making it easier to jump the fence and do the bounce.  Also found out in order to do an "awesome" on the first ramp when ur boarding down the hill, you have to turn at the last second and don't turn back to straighten out, it slows u down making that move impossible.

Yeah, but he always talks of going back and tryign to beat hte people that beat him.

Anyways, yay!  I beat my record of 2:25 and now it's 2:16 (although sould be 1:13, i missed the goal ring 3 times lol in my rush).

How though do you bounce attack to rails to go faster?  just timing?  i'm starting to get my bounce attack a little bit, need more work though.

maybe i should try to get Jim into this.  I saw the link to the golden eye and perfect dark ranking, Jim Barrett is a freind of mine, he's was at one point one of the top ranked goldeneye players in the world, the guy has no life though lol.  He's fun though, tells ur momma jokes like there is no tommarow.  He would be good at this if he ever decided to get off bond nad onto sonic.

^.^ glad you guys are nice, lol, i know some places you get some nasty people.

Firstly, Its' good advice to just beat your goal, i started with fastest time in city escape was like...u forgot lol, but i got it down to 2:25, which i think was like a 30 second improvement.  I usually go for points so i'm a bit new to the pure time trial (love hitting all the combos, fav missions are city escape and crazy gadget).

As for the comic thing, i base it off that I'm the top ranked sonic sprite comic on the largest comic lists, buzzcomics and topwebcomics, currently the only other one sharing the page is inSONICnia from themysticalforestzone, but they are below me, and as for size i haven't found anyone who has the near 1200 comics up that I do (i'm a daily updater).  (and actually yes, I did run out of my 50 gig bandwidth month, my hosting service had to up me to 75 gigs lol)

Man, that speed video is killer though!  I got to work on my B+A thing, i thought i would be okay since i've gotten SSBM's short hop and other similar techniques down (another one of my fav games, fox kicks butt).  But yet, it alludes me, so that is my mission to work on those.

Playing this games makes me want to take my SOAPs and hit some rails :P

Hiya Folks / Hello, new competition coming in :)
« on: February 19, 2007, 10:53:12 pm »
Hello all.  I wanted to introduce myself.

My name is Trevor Fayas, i'm an uber sonic freak, with my favorite game SA2.  I've beaten it 100% twice (no cheats, no nothing), as well as Sonic 1, 2 (sonic, tails, and knuckles), 3 (sonic, tails, and knuckles), SADX, Sonic heroes, sonic riders, sonic 3D, umm....yeah :P i'm on a mission to beat all the sonic games 100%.  I've also watched all 240 sonic cartoons, have the movie, and run the worlds largest and most popular Sonic Sprite comic, sonicandpals.com.  And my girlfriend is also a sonic freak like me :P

Sonic Adventure 2 is by far my favorite, and the one i will be competing in. Heck, even got me into SOAPing (which was dead, me and some others got SOAP grind shoes back in production, currently me and my business partner are the ONLY people who sell SOAPs on my web site).

Can't wait to start finding perfect runs, and hopefully i'll put up some competition, although i think a lot of these people are hard core SA2 players and it will take some time to 'catch up'  lol.

So, um, Hey!  :D   ^.^  Just one quick question, how do we submit videos?  I can save my video directly to my dxg 521 roadster cam (it has an input port).  I usually just upload all my videos anyways, will that be fine?  LIke google video, or is there a prefered method?
