General Sonic / SONIC 06 GETS A PATCH
« on: April 01, 2011, 08:07:37 am »
Sonic 06 is getting a patch!!! I really hope this is no April Fool’s joke! D:

It sounds like they won’t completely fix the physics and camera (instead having glossed over these issues by allowing one to finetune the analogue sticks), but the patch will include a lot of bugfixes, finish some parts of the game like the horribly broken Gems, and… add Super Sonic. Ew. Considering how the animation is already in the game and there’s an item called rainbow gem that triggers, it I guess this isn’t too surprising though.

Oh, and there’ll be new Amigo levels albeit for a meagre cost. E-123 Omega was really fun to play (I hope they didn’t fix his “hover up invisible walls” glitch though) and so was Blaze, so I’ll definitely be getting it.

Also, since I think I haven’t really emphasised it enough yet:

SONIC 06 IS FINALLY GETTING FIXED
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH(…)H

Clockwise: Palmtree Panic, Tidal Tempest, Round 2, Wacky Workbench, Stardust Speedway, Collision Chaos and Quartz Quadrant 2, and Metallic Madness in the centre.
That's my assumption at least.
Does anyone have screenshots of the Past, Good Future, and Bad Future versions? Those might help to confirm some things. I don't have an emulated save file with D.A. Garden unlocked, and I'm currently not at home so I can't just take a photo of my TV either.

This is months old, explicitly NSFW, and also covering a rather unusual fetish so you have been warned: http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/8/26/1382984/Eruruu%20Vore.png

Now for the actual reason of me posting, that being that I have doodled a fair lot again since school ended. In chronological order if I rember it correctly:

Hermann von Wied, a past Elector & Archbishop of Cologne

Adolf von Neuenahr, a commander during the Cologne War and the 80 Years' War

Otto von Bismarck, quickly drawn as a forum avatar after raging at a slow congress (it's the forum of Belgium in a politics MMO)

My character in a roleplay I am part of on a different forum.

A character (or more specifically an UTAloid if that tells you people anything) of a friend of mine which I drew to illustrate something.

The Holy Roman Empire from Axis Power Hetalia

Aforementioned RP character of mine again

Someone else's character from the same RP, drawn to resemble the art of Fist of the North Star just to troll its creator who actually designed him to be pretty metrosexual and bishounen

[13:34:49] Selphos|Sleep: In this chatroom, there are 29 users.
[13:34:53] Selphos|Sleep: None of them can be seen.
[13:35:12] Selphos|Sleep: In this film, we hope to teach you how not to be seen.
[13:35:51] Selphos|Sleep: This is PPA of somewhere in Germany.
[13:35:55] Selphos|Sleep: He cannot be seen.
[13:36:02] Selphos|Sleep: Now, I'm going to ask him to stand up.
[13:36:07] Selphos|Sleep: PPA, will you stand up, please?
[13:36:09] * PPA stands up
[13:36:18] * Selphos|Sleep headshots PPA
[13:36:22] * PPA grazes the bullet
[13:36:27] Selphos|Sleep: ...
[13:36:30] * Selphos|Sleep blows PPA up
[13:36:39] PPA: :(
[13:36:50] flyingfox: :O
[13:36:52] Selphos|Sleep: This shows the value of not being seen.
[13:37:11] Selphos|Sleep: Here we have flyingfox of... wherever.
[13:37:14] Selphos|Sleep: She cannot be seen.
[13:37:25] Selphos|Sleep: flyingfox, will you stand up, please?
[13:37:32] * flyingfox flies off
[13:37:39] * Selphos|Sleep shoots ff
[13:37:43] flyingfox: D:
[13:37:45] Selphos|Sleep: close enough
[13:38:00] flyingfox: yeah I know what you're doing :P
[13:38:06] Selphos|Sleep: (k)
[13:38:07] flyingfox: changing it
[13:38:12] * flyingfox stands up
[13:38:23] * Selphos|Sleep shoots ff again
[13:38:25] Selphos|Sleep: :V
[13:38:27] flyingfox: D:
[13:38:32] Selphos|Sleep: anyway
[13:38:43] Selphos|Sleep: This is Quartz, of California.
[13:38:48] Selphos|Sleep: Quartz, will you stand up, please?
[13:38:55] Selphos|Sleep: ...
[13:38:59] Quartz: <_<
[13:39:04] Selphos|Sleep: Quartz has learned the first lesson of not being seen:
[13:39:07] Selphos|Sleep: Not to stand up.
[13:39:13] Selphos|Sleep: However, he has chosen a very obvious piece of cover.
[13:39:14] * Quartz stays seated
[13:39:21] * Selphos|Sleep blows up Quartz's desk
[13:39:29] Quartz: I was using that.
[13:39:36] Selphos|Sleep: Too bad. :V
[13:39:47] * Quartz shoots Sondow
[13:39:52] Quartz: So did you want something?
[13:39:55] * Selphos|Sleep dodges
[13:40:04] Selphos|Sleep: nah I'm just making an extended Monty Python reference
[13:40:27] Quartz: Still never had the chance to see that/those/whatever.
[13:40:42] Selphos|Sleep: moving on
[13:41:09] Selphos|Sleep: Sylux of... wherever he's from, has presented us with a poser.
[13:41:38] Selphos|Sleep: We do not know which bush he is hiding behind, because he's totally hiding in one of these three bushes here.
[13:41:46] Selphos|Sleep: But, we can soon find out.
[13:41:59] * Selphos|Sleep blows up right bush
[13:42:03] * Selphos|Sleep blows up left bush
[13:42:13] flyingfox: I love this one from monty python x)
[13:42:20] * Selphos|Sleep blows up center bush, hearing what is totally a death wail
[13:42:25] Selphos|Sleep: Yes, it was the middle one.
[13:43:09] Quartz: I should look for it on Youtube or something.
[13:43:21] Quartz: Another time.
[13:43:37] Selphos|Sleep: This is Anonycat and CodeGirl, of... somewhere else. They have chosen a very clever method of not being seen.
[13:44:04] Selphos|Sleep: When we called their house, they had gone on two week's holiday.
[13:44:13] Selphos|Sleep: However, a neighbor told us where they were.
[13:44:16] * Selphos|Sleep blows them up
[13:44:33] Selphos|Sleep: And this is the neighbor who told us where they were...
[13:44:36] * Selphos|Sleep blows up Zeph
[13:44:50] Selphos|Sleep: And this is where they lived...
[13:44:55] * Selphos|Sleep blows up Zeph's house
[13:45:01] Selphos|Sleep: And this is where they were born...
[13:45:07] * Selphos|Sleep blows up the entire fucking country
[13:45:11] * Selphos|Sleep laughs maniacally
[13:45:20] * Selphos|Sleep clears throat
[13:45:27] Selphos|Sleep: And now for something completely different.
[13:45:29] * Selphos|Sleep explodes
[13:45:30] * PPA has an extra live
[13:45:45] flyingfox: :O
[13:45:47] PPA: And thus I got a new set of bombs
[13:45:52] PPA: Hence [13:45:29] * Selphos|Sleep explodes
[13:46:04] PPA: My spellcard bonus was ruined anyway :(
[13:46:08] Selphos|Sleep: That explains everything.
[13:46:32] PPA: Mony Python Sign: Prolonged Sketch Reenactment
[13:46:51] Selphos|Sleep: Anyway yes it is approaching 5AM and I am tired and my joke has ended so
[13:46:53] Selphos|Sleep: GOOD NIGHT TSC
[13:48:30] Quartz: See ya

Wikkity! / Selling games.
« on: June 06, 2010, 03:35:40 am »
So I realised that I have too much stuff and that I'm keeping things around "just in case" I ever feel the desire to play them again knowing full well that will never actually happen and thus I am selling a part of my video game collection.

Everything PAL and complete with box and manual unless otherwise noted.
I haven't checked a lot of these for their function in a while but will do so as soon as someone voices an interest in one of them, though I doubt any do not work. Also no photos because I'm too lazy to take pictures of all of these, but again I can do so if someone wants to see ones of specific games. Especially the ones from N64 and up are generally in a very good condition though.
Most prices are negotiable; frankly I care more about getting rid of some stuff than selling it profitably. In some cases I couldn't even come up with a good price so just suggest me something and I'll most likely accept.
I'll have to see what the shipping costs would amount to.

Nintendo Entertainment System:

- Nintendo Entertainment System with 1 controller and cables and stuff - Make me an offer.

Wikkity! / Re: I have a dream.
« on: April 18, 2010, 11:17:24 am »
I also had a lucid dream again today, however I think I... broke it.
Once I realised that I was dreaming I got drunk on power and laughed manically because I was so indulged in the limitless control I now wielded. But then...

...I started to question whether what I was experiencing was really a lucid dream. I asked myself if me being in control was just an illusion of the dream which was merely making me believe I was in control while still orchestrating its course, or if I truly was aware and the master of my own actions. I was at the verge of waking up and even opened my eyes a bit already but being lucid I halted this process of waking up and ensured the dream would continue, shutting my eyes again from within the dream and again laughing madly at what godly power I possessed.

Then I ended up in some weird state of semi-sleep where I could hear my parents retuning and was already thinking consciously again but was still kinda asleep and didn't want to open my eyes or move (although I could have, it was not sleep paralysis).

I questioned my self-determination and my free will while dreaming in a dream. gg.
On the other hand this draws me even closer to Buddhism now as this was I experienced non-duality (I was dreaming I had a free will and thus did not have a free will, but at the same time I did have a free will and was using it to control the dream) this way in a unique way.

NOW WITH LESS AWFUL

19
^ If you've been disappointed with the series for twelve years, it's hard for me to imagine that you'd be hanging in Sonic communitites. I can only assume that there's something you continually like about the series, because there's no other reason you'd continue to return to this supposed abuse.
I stick around because of the people. TSC I'm barely active again now that a large part of it has left and me having abducted a few of the cooler people into my own channel, but for example The GHZ I still enjoy being a part of due to the colourful people and the wonderful sarcasm and cynicism.

There used to be a thread of hope held together by the fond memories of some older games in the series and a bit of fun with some more recent entries which were just mediocre but avoided being complete disasters, Sonic Rivals for example. By now I've even given up on that as well though. /me shrugs.

20
I'm amused that everyone seems to think that 2-3 seconds of footage from a beta version of the game is enough to decide that it's going to suck
It's not. But twelve years of mediocrity, disappointment and failure is.

21
My expectations (not "worries", as I don't doubt that they will come true) concerning the game's failure are as follows:

  • It's entirely soulless and lacks inspiration, innovation, and identity, as shown in the concept art of the flower and the tree as well as the video.
  • The graphics looks like someone resurrected G Sonic/Sonic Blast in Flash.
  • SEGA still doesn't "get" the old games.
  • Iizuka is making the game.
  • The Motobug redesign is not only hideous but even inconsistent with the style of that touched up S2 MZ crab badnik, proving the incompetence of the art direction.
  • Why would SEGA after a decade of utter failures suddenly make something that does not suck? They didn't even manage to ever reach the hollow and mediocre but at least decent level of Sonic Advance again!
(Although admittedly Rivals went into that direction again before Iizuka came in and declared it would have to be a racing game.)
  • They will warm up a few old and spent ideas to try and create what will, assuming it avoids being a catastrophe, be no more than a pale shadow of the old Sonic games. See #1.

I'm amused by Thorn listing all the negligible nitpicking and hasty conclusions from over at lolRetro to make it seem as though such minor things were the only concerns thus trying to shed the sceptics in a bad light, while leaving out more serious worries.

I'm amused by you thinking your concerns are any more relevant. Every point you made rests on:
1. Clearly all of the same people that worked on shit one year are working on it the next. These people's views of a good game are set in stone and unable to change, so the shitstorm will continue ad infinitum.
2. I don't like the art direction, so clearly nobody can like it.

I'm also amused that you think I was making it out that these were the only concerns. In case you haven't noticed, it was largely a joke list of the more ridiculous concerns expressed to make it impossible for Crowbar's prediction to come true. I am even farther amused by your belief that only Sonic Retro is talking like this. I'd say more, but I have two feet of snow to shovel through, so... yeah.
1. Many different teams have worked on Sonic games in the past dozen of years, from Dimps over SoA to Backbone and whoever else. None of them have delivered satisfying products, and Iizuka who has in the past screwed up many a game is also back, making it unlikely that this will be any different. Unless they made AM2 make a Sonic game I guess, but that's quite unlikely.
2. I never said that I wouldn't like it (although I don't), I pointed out that it's generic and lacks a unique personality. I don't think to see that is dependent on taste.
3. I thought it was more of a sarcastic argument against critics than a joke, seeing how fiercely you defend the game at the moment.

22
* The music we've heard of the game sucks, so all of the music in the game will suck.
People think we heard music for the game?  BLASPHEMY!

Well to be fair the trailer music could be in the game.  I just highly doubt it since it seems to be unveiling mood music more than anything.
http://sonic.sega.jp/SonicTheHedgehog4/
Darned Japanese site hoarding the music >_>

Dunno if they'll use that one either but it's much more likely.
I hope thy don't. Using such a Mega Drive sounding music when the game does not look like a game from the console at all and not even like an evolution of one seems just off. (Not to mention this is a very lame tune.)

Random aimless doodle. I came across a Vocaloid rendition of Dreams of an Absolution, felt like drawing Silver, what I had in mind failed, and thus I simply drew whatever I felt like without any goal or focus.
