Got4n, please refer to the competition rules. It clearly states that cheating devices are not allowed to be used. Plus, not all SADX runners use GC. Myself, for instance, did all but one of my runs on the XBLA version

First, thanks to replying my post.
But, this isn't really a cheat, it's just for guys who like me cannot have 99 lives on GameCube and they only have 4 lives, It's much harder to make a IL that guys who have 99 lives and restart when they want without wating every 4 lives :(
And I use GC so if someone use GC that's ok :p

Man this is easy to have over 99 lives without cheating.
There are many different technique you can find on the net.

It's a cheatcode. You're using a device outside of the game to get 99 lives.


Under competition rules:

* Gamesharks, similar cheat devices, "turbo" or "autofire" features of controllers, and ROM save states must not be used, nor any functions on the emulator, such as slowing down the speed of the game.
* The original game and all its contents must be preserved and unmodified.


I don't know under what of those rules it would count, but surely, it's probably not allowed to use that code for competition, judging from these rules.

The way you use that code is by using Action Replay which is a cheating device just like Gameshark codes. And there's an easy way, well there are multipe ways, to get 99 lives.

Whatever you consider a cheat and what you don't consider a cheat is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is that this site considers Action Replays, Gamesharks, and codebreakers, etc. to be a cheating device and is, therefore, against the site's rules. Telling us your viewpoint on it won't change it, unfortunately. I'd suggest not going against the rules, even if you think this should be allowed.

This is pretty funny, since I remember the old consensus was that infinite-lives codes were allowed, and I know for a fact a number of stats used them.

Indeed. Jawzun used to have runs that used the 99 lives code. However, that was then and this is now.
And, also, SADX's max life count is 127, not 99, so what might seem like a 99-life cheat code isn't one at all, since the max extends past 99.

I'm pretty sure some of the stats you were talking about were removed at one point because of their usage of 99 lives codes. They are indeed not allowed.
