^They're (sony) claiming that it'll be as powerful as the PS3, so I could see them thinking they could charge that much, honestly. Even selling the PS3 "At a loss" (yeah, because someone in R&D was a dipshit, maybe), it was too rich for lots of people's blood. It wasn't until they nerfed the fuck out of it they dropped the price.
That said, most analysts put it at 250 along with the 3DS release, from what I've been reading. Unless they're going to offer something fucking amazing (monthy free downloadable games, or better), I can already see Sony, once again, flailing to keep up with competition that better understands the game.
My guess? PSP2 comes out at 300, Sony fanboys/diehards grab it on release, it has a tiny library of appreciable games unique to it that are hailed by it's fans and do little more than annoy everyone else, and it uses series-fan-based pulls and old-stand remakes/ports instead of trying to develop anything for itself.
