Sonic Adventure Coming to XBLA
« on: January 15, 2010, 02:48:47 am »
That's right. News came out reporting that Sonic Adventure will be coming onto the Xbox Live Arcade somewhere in 2010.

News Link: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/11/rumor-sonic-adventure-coming-to-xbla/

So, who's going adding this into their XBLA collections? I might get it just for the Achievements, though. xD

Yeah, a lot of Sonic fan is gonna get this. Though, Sonic Adventure was a solid game to me. I'm just interested on getting the Achievements like I said.

As long as there isn't an achievement for getting every emblem, it'll be another 200G game for me.

Getting all of the emblems is a pain. I'm barely 3/4 of the way there. :P

Freakin' finally.  They'd better hurry up and put SA2 on something live, I mean seriously - the one 3D game that the majority of the fanbase actually likes, is so far only playable on three systems?  You'd think Sega would have figured this out long ago...
As for the emblems, Chao Garden is singlehandedly the reason why I never expect to get all emblems again on SADX, or all emblems ever on SA2B.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN

Great news for SA.

Also sounds like a perfect opportunity to bring back online features of the original game. I sense that's not going to happen though, that was back when Sega cared and this is now.

Especially since all signs point to the DX version ... IIRC, that's the one that's worse for competition, fewer holes and shortcuts.

Like SonicKid said, I'd also only get this for the acheivments. I already have DX, so it might not be a good idea to get it. If this doesn't cost too much, I'll get it when I buy P.B. Winterbottom.

Okay so just to involve more into this conversation, here are the acheivments:

Achievements:

Miles “Tails” Power:
Become friends with Tails.

Knuckles the Echidna:
Become friends with Knuckles.

Amy Rose:
Become friends with Amy.

E-102 “y”:
Become friends with E-102.

Big the Cat:
Become friends with Big.

Sonic the Hedgehog:
Clear the Sonic story.

Super Sonic:
Clear all character stories.

The Fastest & Stongest:
Get Level A on all the Action Stages.

Sub Game Master:
Get all Emblems of the Sub Game.

Chao’s Best Friend:
Get all Emblems of the Chao Race.

The Adventurer:
Get all Emblems in the Adventure Field.

The Perfect Adventurer:
Get all 130 Emblems.

So finishing the game and getting all emblems will give you all the gamerscore that the game offers. Still unknown is the value of the gamerscore of these individual acheivments.

Background looks like blue vomit. I can't believe they consider this acceptable.

And I refuse to believe it could be that hard to make the game widescreen. On the PC both 4:3 and 5:4 ratios work just fine.

I really don't understand why everyone thinks that the game won't have widescreen just because some leaked screenshots from very early development don't have it. The game hasn't even been officially announced yet, I think it's probably a little more important just to make sure it's WORKING on 360 (which it's not yet) before working in widescreen functionality. They'll get to it sooner or later. <_< (also for the record, we don't even know if this is REAL. It could be a bunch of screenshots of SADX with a border taped on for all we know.)

Assuming the screens are real, the fact that they spent time working on a border tells me that there won't be widescreen period. Otherwise that border would be useless, and they wouldn't have a non-widescreen option for widescreen sets.

It's a poor port of the PC version that only renders at 640x480 (but supports "HD" by upscaling), doesn't support widescreen, and has the SA1 title screen even though it's SADX.

It's the classic example as to why "HD" is so broken: software developers claim their product is "HD" and manage to fool millions of stupid fanboys into thinking it's "HD" when it really isn't. (The term "HD" is useless anyway. Use concrete definitions like standard Horziontal x Vertical resolutions used on PCs for years, not poorly-defined "number of lines".)

Add to this the fact that most "1080p" TVs stupidly overscan all "HD" sources, leaving you with an effective ~950 fuzzy lines, and it ecomes fairly obvious that the whole thing is broken.

Thanks. Now I know I don't even want this anymore.

This is really stupid. As I said before, the PC version supports two different aspect ratios, so there is no reason they can't do 16:9. It also supports multiple resolutions, all the way to "1024p", so again, no reason they can't do real HD.
