Any suggestion of how to record videos?
« on: March 08, 2009, 10:47:53 pm »
I'm going to start time/score attacking in Sonic unleashed 360/ps3 and I was wondering if anyone knows a good video recording method. Some youtube videos I see show games without the border of the tv as if thy're recording straight from the tv. If anyone knows how to do that I would aprreciate the help.

To record straight from the console's output you need a DVD recorder or capture card. I use a DVD recorder personally, and so do most of the people here.

I picked up a TV Tuner and record my videos right to a VCR, then play the tape back through the tuner. Alternately, get a capture card that cuts out the middle man (or a lagless tuner that you can use to play the console right on the computer screen).

Thanks for the help. Do the black panasonic dvd players have a record function? (If you need more specific information about it than "black panasonic" just ask.) If not where can I buy a capture card.

Sorry. I'll try to be more clear. Can the black model of panasonic dvd players record as well? If not where can I buy a capture card and how does it work?

Mine holds 5 disks if that helps but I'm not sure how else to identify it.

If it just says it's a DVD -Player- than more than likely it doesn't record.  Also yeah, dvd recorders are the way to go in my opinion.

Only thing you have to worry about with DVD recorders is any lag you might get.

The recorder I use has about a half a second of delay from what happens to what is displayed on-screen.
Of course, you could always avoid that issue by recording to a VHS tape, then recording that to a DVD.

Or, ya know, you could set a separate path for a DVD recorder using spliters, so that the DVD cannot lag the game because it's not en route...

or better still, you could set cables out from the TV into the DVD recorder, with only the tiniest bit of rewiring...
