TSC Plays!
« on: January 27, 2009, 12:46:50 pm »
Ok, what with all the Marathons and the TSC League and whatnot, I thought it might be cool to do something similar, though on a more casual, non-competitive level.

We have some people select a game, and anyone who wants to play can join in.  We start playing at the same time, but it does not need to be a continuous run, and it doesn't have to be competitive, though it can be between individual players or even the group as a whole if they choose to make it so, even mid-play, or just on a single facet of the game. We could then discuss the game, swap strategies and whatnot, etc. etc.

Well, tell me what you think.

You mean vaguely like the Kid Chameleon run that genus proposed (and failed at) some time ago?

If so, I'd probably pass - I simply don't know enough games for it to be worthwhile.

SHINING FORCE

that would be ridiculous...

on topic, I like the idea, but until I'm finished getting over the effects of moving, I'm somewhat unable to compete (partially due to my desire to work on my SDA stuff for the funding it would grant, partially due to my roommate)

I love kid Cameleon...  I'm somewhat torn on whether or not I'm sad that it's not tracked on TSC >_>

yes, it's not a sonic game, but it's still a blast, and I think maxing THOSE charts would be ridiculously challenging...

How is everyone playing Shining Force a ridiculous idea?

I think you tried to type "fantastic" and critically failed your typing roll.

I am pro Shining Force.  Which version, GBA or Genesis?

Shining Force Genesis is in Sega Smash Pack, right? (For PC) if so, I might have it and would play.

On second thought, why don't I just check and find out?

I grabbed the Genesis ROM for it when I first read this topic. It seems pretty cool, so I'm pro for it.
Help me, I'm going insane... I NEVER agree with RPG...

And Azure, it is on Sega Smash Pack.

ghosts and goblins. haha.

THIS idea I like...  G&G is an awesome game with controls you really have to practice to get used to...

heh... it's been a LONG time since I've tried to speedrun this game...

Well, my personal opinion on the GBA remake is that it is one of the few game remakes that actually -improves- upon the original game.

Having said this, GBA roms are bigger than Mega Drive ROMs and the actual differences are mostly graphical and musical, just with 3 extra characters.

The mega drive original would be fine

The characters are a bit more balanced in the GBA game IIRC.  And by balanced I mean that Bleu doesn't completely assrape everything

Ive never had Bleu assrape anything ever lol, I always promote characters at level 20 and then they suck for a few levels and Bleu is just awful then and never gets enough XP to be any good so I should probably promote at level 10 instead haha

Bleu starts to get significant gains post level 15 or so IIRC.  Promoted, he has massive Def and HP, and does a ton of damage to boot.  Also, Domingo = win.

I might be up for Shining Force, though I think I would prefer to play the Genesis version.  I'm also going to throw out a suggestion: Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 (either version, or we could all play one).

I know some people around TSC have played DWM, and it is awesome.  DWM2 has more of a DW-style framework to the main quest (the "gates" are actually like mini DW worlds with characters and quests, etc.) but the core game is the same.  Fighting and breeding monsters from the DW universe, only there are way more monsters, and a larger number of them are obtainable in nature, if only through key worlds (which are awesome.  Very similar to DWM's gates, only they are based on continents rather than floors, and they have towns for healing and saving and such).  Really a great game.

I'm going to give both 1&2 a run... seems like fun ^_^

DWM2 starts slower, but the game really opens up once you can start breeding and start getting into key appraisal and magic key hunting, then later magic key worlds.  You can find keys that lead to realms with wild Goldslimes and Divinegons...it's awesome :D
