Suggestion: Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Charts
« on: July 15, 2008, 12:18:32 pm »
I was recently playing the DS version of the game, and I ran the 100 meter in 9.471 seconds.
I thought "Wow! This might be a record on the Sonic - WHAIT"
I realized there are no charts for either version of the game.
This saddened me.
Perhaps the game could be added to the charts.
Just a suggestion.

Yeah I don't see why it's not here. Well actually I do because nobody owns it probably.

I don't have the game but I'll assume you can do anything with any character in either series. Where would we put these charts? Here or in the Mario Center? Another possibility is that we put it in both but you can only use sonic characters for the charts on TSC and only mario characters on the charts on the mario center.

There's a reason why this game hasn't been added.

Well there are several reasons why this shouldn't be added in my opinion. I would assume that one of them was the reason why this game hasn't been added (oh, and obviously there IS a reason why it hasn't been added, else it would've been added!)

1) We don't have Sonic Shuffle charts. If you have one, I'd argue we should add the other. And high scores for Secret Ring party games.
2) There wouldn't be enough competitors to make it worthwhile I don't think.
3) Best times and scores are already covered by Nintendo Wi-Fi. (If we were to do as Shadowfan seems to suggest, and have individual divisions for each character, this argument wouldn't apply, but that would be a LOT of charts (17*amount of competable events))
4) It's a pretty boring game
5) A lot of things on there are maxed, and not improvable. It's not like other charts here where new strategies can be found, meaning that competition keeps on going. It would just...die.

Individually, these reasons aren't really reasons not to include the game. However, with all of them, I think it is a fairly strong argument. That being said, if Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games charts were added, I would compete (so with Azure and I, that's 2 competitors already!)

Why? I actually found the game pretty fun. I mean, who DOESN'T like to slide the stylus back and forth at ~300mph?

</slight sarcasm>

I know it's not the best Sonic game (by far) [shut up self] but in spite of this, doesn't Sonic Rivals 2 only have 3 players? Why is there a chart for it?

Why don't we give it a try. How can it hurt?

Looks like this topic's discussion ended a little too soon. I think this issue deserves a little more debate...

Maybe someone could bring it to the attention of whoever does the charts and let them decide if they want to add it.
