First off, while I like Tweaker, I think that he, like myself, should NEVER be given mod powers without strict adherence and limited to a short duration (Like I might request, for example, to put charts up for a game I enjoy in no one else can be arsed... however, I would be OK with an insta-ban if I did anything with my nigh-godly powers during that time...)

Secondly, it's supposed to be an open-source group...  discovering and working on various hacks, helping one another...  there's no real philosophy to it, I thought, except that information is supposed to be made available to all people who so wish it.  That's really my only problem with SR, and that's only because I think of it as a huge amount of hipocracy, considering who and what they are.

Honestly, my only real disappointment (which is rooted in the above) is that S1MMvF wasn't released as open-source...  I consider it a slap in the face of the hacking society to take all that information... all that work... and effectively throw it away...

And I still want the whole story about all that... from all sides...

Nice work there.  As for Sonic, he seems rough, but I blame having to work with a pencil and lines.

Quartz, I only used the pencil tool. The only time I used the line tool was for that metal plat and the only time I used the circle tool was for Sonic's head and torso before I modified them. :(

Well basically I'm just saying that if that's meant to be a background that many little bright lights against black is going to be massive, distracting visual clutter. Contrast leaps out: not good for something that's meant to sit in the background. You did get the balance really nice in that first image, though.

You also did well with the lightning in the sky: you realised that you didn't need to make it really bright to get the point across. But think about it: are the lights of a city that much brighter than lightning?

Also, looking again, that front line of buildings looks a bit nonsensical: the diagonals of the lines of lights implies perspective, but the tops of the buildings are a straight line.

I'm completely drunk as I just went to a party so I apologise if this is a bit nonsensical or haphazard or abrasive.

Peace.

Well, I wanted the lights to be obscenely bright and glowing. The meaning of the Zone is that the humans, represented by the city (which will become clearer once I've added another row of houses with signs like "FUN", "HAPPY" etc on them), are oblivious to the nature being in peril (represented by the thunderstorms) because they drown themselves in amusement and distraction (represented by the blinding lights shining over anything else).

Only of 2 of them, the rest is diagonal at the top as well!

Ooh, I see, I look forward to seeing the foreground then!

When I mentioned the straight line I meant this.

Though I now realise that it's actually the horizon line that the 2nd row of buildings are sitting on. Though isn't it a bit strange that there's apparently miles of no tall buildings between the front and back row? And that the tops of the front line of buildings lines up exactly with the bottom of the back line? The fact that both lines have the same colours in the lights makes it difficult to read one as being further away than the other too. I'd move that front row up and make the back row's lights a bit dimmer, myself.

Oh, that line. Well, it's somewhat intentional.
Of what I understood the Mega Drive can parallax scroll horizontal lines individually, so I made sure that nothing crosses that line so perhaps (even though I lack the haxxing skills as of yet and don't know how hard to do this is) the closer buildings could scroll independently from the farther ones.
If that'd be too hard to do anyway, I'll just make them look more natural though.

On and I'll try to make the lights in the back a bit darker. :(

Yeah, there's artificial parallax support on the megadrive...  that's what I was guessing that front line was for...

Also, I was guessing the gaps between the buildings was due to height... the buildings towards the center are far taller than the surrounding buildings...

like this...
                  |
                  |
        _____|
____|

so you couldn't see the middle buildings, from a low angle...
