Using this, Tails should be able to snag many, many more rings than the previous record shows.

How would one get through the unbreakable wall just after where you end that .giz?

Judging by the new TAS path through Sandopolis 1, you should be able to duck, release duck, immediately jump to the right, and even though the level doesn't wrap and the screen will scroll the correct way, you should get a brief amount of time with the top of the barrier offscreen so that you can pass through it.

That only worked because the game still thinks Sonic is ducking to keep the screen down when Tails picks him up, Tails alone couldn't have done it. The only way I know of to pass through this barrier with Tails is to do a full-speed spindash at it from the top of the hill, and then do 2 minimum-power spindashes within 10 frames of hitting the barrier (which is almost impossible in real-time).

And to go as far off-topic as possible and post something completely opposite, here's a way to get Knuckles into Sonic's route on CN1.
