City Escape, mission 3
« on: October 05, 2006, 02:49:30 am »
Does anyone happen to know how 1:14 is possible? I just had a nice run, landed from the building at 1:11 and had a pretty much perfect ending and only got 1:33, I know i'm missing something here to be 19 whole seconds off the record, or maybe I just really suck at the ascent up the building.

From what Cybrax told me, you don't run down the building.  You can somehow do a jump from the loop that will take you above the loop, and from there you maneuver over to the left (above where it stops being a wall) so that you fall through the inside of the building and just land on top of the Chao.

I saw the video. That's not easy to pull off... but do-able, I guess.

thanks for the video and explanation, but damn, I tried for about 1 hour and didn't even manage to get it right once, which means for me to pull it off during a run probably won't happen :(

If anyone does pull it off though, sub 1:10 should be pretty easy to get.

Also I pulled off that other trick afew times(well, almost, I died trying to land at the stairs) i'm wondering if it could save any time compared to doing the level the normal way

Its not quicker, its faster to roll down the building and grind down the rails at full speed, or so I hear

^ If that's true, I must've really improved since the last time I played in order to improve my time from 2:03 to 1:59; of course, it also could just be that I suck at going down the building and grinding the rails afterward. :P

From what I could tell, if you do the second trick and can then grind the rails afterward at full speed (which is difficult because of the silly camera), you should get a 1-2 second improvement over going the normal route; not really worth it, IMO.

And I haven't even tried to do the first trick, so no one ask if I got it to work. X)
Hay guiz, I made a table showing how many points each game tracked by TSC is worth. You should go see it.
Also v2.0 of my TSC calculator is available to use. You should totally use it.
I update these every Monday around 2:30pm GMT.

I think RPG is right. Cybrax started the jump at about 1:13, landed at 1:25.

At best I could start the jump at 1:00, and land at about 1:12 provided I can fall the way he did. Normally on a really good run I can hit the rail at about 1:14, but with full speed, meaning the trick would only save 2 seconds, but overall i'd probably lose 4 afterwards due to slow rails.

Sucks, I was hoping to find a trick to cut alot of time on CE

Couple things.

1. Bumping topics=fail
2. This topic is not about the regular way.  It's about getting around 1:14.

This is hardly bumping. The latest post was only 14 days ago; the topic was probably still at the top of the page ok.

YOSHI_EGGS: yeah, we're not aiming for the slowest route here.

Well, it kind of is.  I've read an older topic that someone "bumped" it after 10 days and said (s)he bumped.
