Right. I would like to congratulate everyone who has made it this far. Everyone being:

genus- species.
Groudon-pogeyman.
Thorn-pricker.
PsyBorg-Last place.

The end of round scores are as follows:

Score
genus:33
Groudon:33
Thorn:24
Psy:21
mike:6

The total scores are as follows:

Other Score
genus-66
Groudon-60
Thorn-63
PsyBorg-57
Mike-30
RPG-21

As you've figured out...

RIP Mike, who never got a chance to captivate a nation. Maybe his glory days will come as he joins RPG in the squadrons of zombies, attacking the precarious social order as it presently exists.

Now here comes a shocking twist! Kind of...

The New Way Things Will Work
...For this round at least. Seeding with 4 players is just no good. It's over too quickly, and it relies too much on chance, moreso than other forms. So for this round, we're kicking it off. With slang. And tourney style. Points were used to determine matchups. The player with the most points plays the player with the least, and the middle two players square off against each other. This sets up the following matches:

genus vs. PsyBorg
Groudon vs. Thorn

The same rules not pertaining to seeding apply; however, there is one change. There will be two standard sets played, not just one. They do not have to be consecutive. Whoever has the most wins (and put them in point form) of the two will move on. In the event of a tiebreaker, the second must be picked for the tiebreaker match. Report the results of each set and in which courses everyone lost/won in. These are:

Set 1
Mario Circuit
Sky Garden
Frappe Snowland
Snes Mario Circuit 1

Set 2
Figure 8
Wario Stadium
Rainbow Road
Choco Island 2

I wish you all luck. Oh and of course, do not start until tommorow.

I HOPE YOU DO

Aw, this is gay.  Genus doesn't hafta play his closest competition, Psyborg is at a big disadvantage... just... gay.  Arg, I hope items mistreat Groudon.

Anyways, point totals.

And as usual, RIP...
PsyBorg and Thorn. Good players both, they are now being dug up to serve my purpose. The chaos begins: its name is round 4.

Yes, round 4. A showdown of two worthy players. But how should such a showdown be fought? In a raw-snaking contest banning items? In some other form I have not thought up? Probably. I am going to get bs'd like crazy when I reveal how this will work.

A showdown of two worthy players should be fought...with 4 players.

The two players who made it through this round, myself and groudon, will be racing competitively. We will be striving to outdo the other, and work hard to earn the right to say "I am better than so and so".

The two players who didn't, PsyBorg and Thorn, will be racing to throw us off. Yes, you're understanding me; they will be pitching items at us. They are permitted to camp, brake, drive in reverse, and so on in the name of MKDS. If it can be done, they are allowed to do it. The only restriction in place is that any one individual item may be used on a player only once. For example, if you get a star, you may not drive over them and go in reverse. You may, however, get a star, run them over, grab another, and let the shenanigans commence. When doing their thing with items, PsyBorg and Thorn will not be ranked. Of course.

Yes, I know everyone reading this is thinking something along the lines of "...", "wtf", or "lolwhat". Why turn something competitive into an item fest? Because the tournament is about fun. Nobody entered this thinking "I will win this and agonize over the time it takes for me to do so". They thought it would be a great way to...have fun. Right.

The four courses to be played, hand picked by SDM and I to allow the maximum ammount of havoc possible, are:

Delfino Square
Yoshi Circuit
MooMoo's Farm
Choco Mountain

As always, you may not begin the round until tommorow. Good luck everyone, and calm down groudon.

Edit-the tiebreaker courses are:

Rainbow Road
SNES Mario Circuit
Peach Circuit
Baby Park

If Psy can't be on today, then we'll wait until tommorrow.

In fact, it isn't a big deal, because I might not be able to play the match either, as I could have someone over tonight.

This also works out well for me, because I need to talk to SDM about something.

In the meantime, speculate. Who is going to win? Groudon or me? Will it be by a landslide? What, pray tell, are Thorn and Psy planning for us?

Oh and how will groudon't signature/user title change based on the results of this match?

...zombies.

Everyone but Thorn is on right now, but now is no good for me for a few reasons. We're moving, and I need to help move some things into the new house.

Maybe sometime around...1 pm EST or so? Pretty much any time after 12 is good for me.

Congratulations to groudon, the winner of the first half of the tournament! Anti-congratulations to Psy, who only targeted me.

Like I said, ignoring the first part, the first half.

However, there is in fact a second half, which the winner of this half will not be a part of until the very end. I am implimenting another bracket.

Some players felt that they got a bum rap because of a few bad courses, and I'm inclined to agree with them. A missed miniturbo, a botched red shell (or two), and that player is out, eliminated, forgotten. But not this way. All the forgotten players get a chance of redemption. These are of course Thorn, PsyBorg, RPG, yse and the almost "champion" genus. Myself.

Well, now those players will be able to prove that they are better than they made out. To meet my gimmicks an eye for an eye, and reign supreme. Even if one of those players is me; in fact, I wrote this post ahead of time and filled in the names afterwards because I knew writing it spur of the moment would take too much time and everyone would have moved on the minute they heard the results. Anyways, for now, the second bracket players will face each other. Team style.

How do you do teams with five players? Easy; add another. I initially contacted Turbos to find out if he would be able to replace his DS and so I could add him back in to this tourney; SDM and I had talked of the second bracket before, and we hoped the tournament would stretch out long enough for Turbos to get another DS. It didn't.

So instead of Turbos, someone will be dealt a guest player, to be a part of the tournament from here on out, TSC's and SCD's very own SDM. The bottom player in terms of points will get him. Now that I do the points out and pair each player with their closest match (as Thorn suggested I do for the original tourney-style matchups), I see that we wind up with the teams of:

1) genus, Thorn
2) PsyBorg, Mike
3) RPG, SDM

These will be played round robin style, as we did before. The team belonging to the player that wins a given course wins that course. Post the results in the topic as you normally would.

The tracks are to be free pick. For a given set, every player is allowed one course that they may choose, and all others must choose that course. The order of choosing is based on points, with the highest point player of the two teams picking the first track, the second highest picking the second, and so on. The members of the team with the least ammount of points will be eliminated. In the event of a tie, the usual tiebreaker courses will be played. In the event of a three way tie, the team with the most combined points is advanced to the next round, and the other two teams play in the manner perscribed above. Note that, unlike last time, if you lose a match you are eliminated. There are more surprises to come, but resurrection is not one of them.

And because this post isn't long enough...

I told knuckles_sonic8 to leak information. I wanted to generate hype, burnout, and subsequent rejuvination, so I directly told him to spread the false word of a broken second life for everyone. The results, according to the pm's he forwarded me, are best described as mutinous. Yes, I read your "private" messages and conversations, and am amused that everyone fell for my plan. The allegations ranged from me fixing the tournament so I would win to SDM wanting to end the tourney so that TSC's focus would be back on time attacking Sonic. Here is the exact conversation I had with ks8 (I didn't start logging it until the middle):

<genus> spread some forum crap on the forum (paraphrased)
<ks8> any ideas?
<genus> hm
<genus> say that you made a mistake
<genus> and thought I was manipulating everyone
<genus> something along those lines
<genus> but sound suspicious
<genus> just enough so people think "hey wait a minute"
<ks8> so don't be obvious and say up front that we planned it, then?
<genus> hm?
<genus> yeah.
<ks8> kk
<ks8> this is gonna be so jkz
<ks8> so by the looks of it
<ks8> when do you think it'll finish
<genus> yeah
<ks8> and get to the champ?
<genus> dunno
<genus> I'd say by the end of the week
<genus> there's also something
<genus> I haven't told you about
<ks8> oh okay
<genus> and in all fairness don't want to :P
<ks8> I can hold my laughter in that long
<ks8> :P
<ks8> too soon for you or too late?
<genus> eh?
<ks8> I mean early
<ks8> you know what I mean
<genus> nah, it's a good length
<ks8> lol
<ks8> meh
<genus> considering how few people will be in it
<ks8> I guess
<genus> also total
<ks8> lol
<ks8> yeah
<genus> I say this goes well into next week
<ks8> probably
<genus> because I have something great planned
<genus> which will make everyone "wtf"
<genus> without a doubt.
<ks8> I'm sitll bummed I'm not part of this but at least it makes me feel better I didn't get a DS yet cause I'm included in this
<ks8> oh yeah?
<genus> yep.
<ks8> whatever it is I'm sure it'll knock their socks off
<genus> obviously.
<ks8> lol
<ks8>  or their heads
<ks8> lol
<ks8> gonna copy this too (lol)
<genus> hm
<genus> I reas the pm
<genus> *read
<ks8> oh ok
<genus> that's pre "convo", right?
<ks8> hm?
<genus> ie
<genus> the fake conversation I gave you
<genus> are you including that?
<ks8> I thought you were copying it
<ks8> ... am I confused :"S?
<genus> no as in
<genus> I copied all this
<genus> and made a fake conversation which I gave you
<genus> under the assumption you were adding it into the pm
<ks8> oh!!! I didn't add that
<genus> oh
<ks8> don't worry :P
<genus> is it sent allready?
<ks8> I'm not that basic
<ks8> :P
<genus> as in
<ks8> yep
<genus> ok
<ks8> I understood you correctly, then? right?
<genus> no I mean
<genus> I made a fake conversation
<genus> which I intended you to post in the pm
<genus> if you've allready sent the pm, then it's not a big deal
<genus> but you could always say something along the lines of "the exact conversation went like this"
genus if you're planning on sending another one, which I understand if you aren't, then the exact text is
<genus> <genus> the champion races everyone
<genus> <ks8> hm?
<genus> <genus> the tournament will continue round robin, then there will be a tourney style setup for when 4 players are left, then head to head
<genus> <ks8> ok
<genus> <ks8> then?
<genus> <genus> then...
<genus> <ks8> ?
<genus> <genus> the champion will race everyone in the tourney who was eliminated once, and if the champion loses even one match, the winner is whoever has the most points
<genus> <ks8> I'm not sure that's a good idea
<genus> <genus> doesn't matter, we've worked it out and nothing will change it.
<ks8> would you like me to make a further PM... ebtter yet... let's wait and see, if anyone tries to "embarass me" and reveal I told everyone, I'll quote this part
<ks8> I'll save it in Notepade for later
<genus> eh
<genus> which part are you planning on quoting?
<ks8> the part you just stated
<genus> I'll make sure they don't villify you
<ks8> without the genus at the beginning
<genus> ok
<ks8> thanks
<ks8 lol
<ks8> l8r genus
<ks8> wink wink
<ks8> :P
genus bye
(time passes, nothing is said)
<ks8> hey genius :P
<ks8> nice touch in the forums, bTW
<ks8> some "rumors" lol
<ks8> Groudon's posting... wonder what he;s gonna say ;)

<genus> ...which is a scary thought
<ks8> lol
<ks8> okay
<ks8> brb
<genus> that I realise now how mutinous everyone has become
<genus> and would do it better in the future
<ks8> tell me about it....
<ks8> yep
<ks8> k
<ks8> brb
<genus> like having ks8 "accidently" mention it in a conversation
<ks8> lol
<genus> oh and I logged most of your conversations because <ks8> copied them down
<genus> and I don't fix matches damnit >_>
<genus> ok so I figure this is the cutoff point

Actually, genus, me AND thorn conspired against you in private conversation. He even asked before the match if we should "stick to the plan". Of course, he wanted to keep more "hidden" about it during the match than I did, and that we would only tell Groudon and you directly after the match.

Also I am glad I am definitely not going to win this tournament :(

^The idea was that if Groudon won, and then we told him we handicapped it, he wouldn't get arrogant about winning, thus fulfilling the goal that was in his sig last week.

Also, since a couple competitiors aren't reading the convo in chat right now, namely yse and RPG, and since there's already one chat quote posted, I re-post it, as it really unveils this tourney for what it is/was (comments fake-chat style in red, important lines in bold):

<genus> ok
<genus> posted The "finals" just ended
<genus> everyone check the topic
<genus> and smack yourselves in the forehead.
<SDM> 1:48:10 Ls boss sonic >_>
<Stefan|SADX> my nickname for lost world is "panels from hell world"
<genus> oops, inconsistancies
<PsyBorg> ...what
<PsyBorg> i'm with mike
<PsyBorg> you purposely want me to lose :(
<genus> lolno
<PsyBorg> let me guess, your excuse is you picked it out of a hat
<genus> no, Thorn's complaint
<genus> he said everyone should face their closest competition
<Thorn> And I stand by it. As I post this, I realize it's TEAMS by points, which is really quite dumb IMO.  Weighing down a "bad" player with ANOTHER "bad" player is just torture.  My opinion aside, let's see what happens.
<genus> so I made the teams based on point rank
* RPG go take charlies stuff back
* RPG brb
<Thorn> Also genus you botched your post:
<PsyBorg> ...
<genus> yeah I know
<Thorn> I tried to only target you too.
<genus> the middle player thing
<genus> yeah
<genus> but why?
<Thorn> Because groudon had some bad luck with items before...
<Thorn> And it was his time.
<genus> was it because everyone thought I was changing the tournament to benefit me?
<PsyBorg> and I wanted revenge.
<genus> oic.
* RPG is now known as RPG[Legone]
<Thorn> And, knowing that ks8 was "half-correct" (yeah, we're not THAT stupid...), I trust a few others competitors thought this as well ...I hope, I don't like being alone
<genus> hey, I had to cover my tracks
<Thorn> I figured groudon's bad luck would make for an easier final match.
* S3K has quit IRC (AIRC Quit: damn... not here... (Ping timeout))
<Groudon|SADX> The only bad luck I had in the final match was on Choco Mountain.
<Thorn> *looks up a few lines* genus, we didn't think you fixed it
<Thorn> ...but some ideas were... weird...
<Thorn> Groudon, you'd won by that point.
<Thorn> I hit you with a spiny ONCE, to try to dispel any suspicion. genus obviously figured it out, but does it really matter?
<genus> I'm telling you, ks8 gave me every private conversation he had about the tourney
<PsyBorg> it's also because I thought groudon should finally get to win something for once instead of being the guy just below me.
<PsyBorg> *in shadow
<Thorn> genus, we believe you.  Why the "I'm telling you", you're not lying.
<PsyBorg> but mainly I just wanted to get back at you genus.
<SDM> a spiny? :o
<Thorn> Blue shell...
<Thorn> sorry
<Stefan|SADX> i beat panels from hell world
<Stefan|SADX> yay
<Groudon|SADX> This also was my first time in any type of tournament for anything.
<Thorn> genus, your biggest blunder was having the "leak" go through somebody we didn't entirely believe in the first place.
<SDM> who was that?
<genus> ks8
<Thorn> And the rule he described was so out-there that I wouldn't buy it.
<SDM> lol
<genus> I wanted it to sound fake
<genus> so people would maybe realise what I had planned
As I mentioned earlier, I suspect that I and some others did
<Thorn> I used /msg to talk with him in chat, and he put in enough emoticons for me to see that something was amiss. This was my personal tip-off, anybody else care to share?
* MK has joined #soniccenter
<Thorn> Smilies everywhere, man.
<genus> but nobody looked back in the topic to figure out what I was doing
<SDM> 2 to go at:59 :o
<Thorn> genus, you mentioned the "leak" in the topic and I disregared it since I already was doubting it anyway.
<Thorn> It's funny how we all thought we were tricking each other when in reality we were all pretty lucid :D A summation of the entire conversation
<PsyBorg> genus
<PsyBorg> I had a feeling you were going to do that
<PsyBorg> partially anyway
<PsyBorg> because your reaction was like "oh yeah uh huh" PsyBorg's personal tip-off
<sonicandamy1> mmmm notting like vanilla wafers and spamming the first boss
<Thorn> ^use /nick to ditch the 1.
<SDM> I'd like to see a pic of that now :P
<sonicandamy1> i like my 1
<genus> PsyBorg, if the real information were leaked, I would have done it the same way
<Thorn> Also I am so logging this convo and putting it in the topic for yse.

I would like to clarify some things about how I "partially" knew what Genus was doing:

By "oh yeah uh huh", I mean that Genus didn't make a big fuss about someone ruining his tourney. Here is the quote which pretty much lead me onto it (to a certain degree):

"I don't think it was RPG or SDM...ks didn't sound too happy about what I worked out for the final, so it's probably him. Regardless of what he has said,I am not planning on changing what I am doing for the rest of the tournament. It's word-terrorism. Word terrorism!"

In this particular situation, I made a "deal" with genus in that he'd give me some tips for the stages that I sucked at in round 2 in exchange for me telling him who the leaker was. Note both parts of the sentence; in the first part, Genus makes a point that ks8 did not seem optimistic, which is contradicted by ks8 telling us in the PM that the secret was "just too exciting" and making all other optimistic comments. In the second part of genus' PM to me, he once again directly displays that he has no apparent care for what happened (even in private!), which may seem like nothing to you, but in reality, it seemed to be proven further by him not making any major statement toward ks8 in the topic, or, to make that statement more true, anywhere. I didn't have enough proof to call BS on genus, but I was somewhat onto it.

Aaaanyway... yeah, good luck to me and mike. :(

So we baited the ks8 crook with porn placed in a rope, tied on a skateboard.  When the ks8 crook ran into the rope, we pulled the rope and the skateboard.  The crook was pulled into an elaborate setup of traps, one of which we gave yse a Scooby Snack to help set up, which culminated in him trapped under a laundry basket.  We stood there until the authoritites came, then reached in and took the ks8 mask off to find... genus?

He was then taken into a police car and driven away, all the while shouting that he "...would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for those meddling sonsabitches."

...okay, that was dumb.  Seriously, though, this is the most conked-out tourney I've ever been in.  We all tried to trick each other, we all saw right through each other.  Let's just get back to Mario Kart.

Aaaanyway... yeah, good luck to me and mike. :(

I thought he was gonna let me post it so I could clear my infamous rep.... Ah well... Anyway, yeah looks like the Ks8 is outta the bag.

But it was kinda fun...

Dunno why he said I wasn't optomistic about the idea, cause, quite frankly, I was. I told him it was cool and stuff; but anyway, hope that clears that up...

Sorry about this whole mess, guys; hope this doesn't change what you may think of me... if anything, I guess it probably would... negatively.

But I really do keep all my promises, as I said, and I'm true to my word. If he didn't tell me to tell all of you about this whole thing I wouldn't have said anything, honestly.

Hope you all forgive me for well being dragged into this "scheme" if you will, and Thorn, I guess this trick kinda makes us even with the trick you pulled on me in my topic about the "name change" scheme.... ;)

Anyway, GL to all of you still involved and I'm still bummed I can't have a share but I can't wait to see how the match turns out.... if only you guys could video it or something!! :P

Why would we hold this against you, you did what you were told.  We don't hold grudges, hence why you're not the Ignorant Necromancer still.  This whole thing just got way out of control, let's just go play Mario Kart again.

Oh, and the name-change was 10x better, it wasn't stressful.  And it got me into chat for good, having to impersonate RPG.

Results:

Rainbow Road - PsyBorg (1-0)
Yoshi Circuit - Thorn (1-1)
SNES MC1 - Thorn (1-2)
Wario Stadium - Thorn (1-3)

A bit of bad luck with items, but you expect that in any MK game.

Good game all.

<3 Thorn.

I don't think a match between us and RPG is possible due to the fact that RPG comes on at a very different time than mike. Nothing has been happening for quite a while now. What should we do?

Wait on it. Generally, schedules change during the weekends. SDM's day off is coming up, so I'm sure it won't be hard to arrange schedules based on that. Remember the "good old days" of SDM, RPG, and yse playing at once? No, you don't. You aren't a part of that set. But everyone will play each other within a few days.

If not, I'll have to think of something else.

I HOPE YOU DO
