Hello, I think I'll like it here
« on: August 02, 2006, 06:44:39 pm »
Hi, I'm totally new to speedruns, my only experience is wasting a good 3 hours with my freshman RA in a competition to beat Emerald Hills Zone Act 1 as fast as possible. Imagine my surprise to see here that 26 seconds isn't even close to a record!
In any case, I've been a Sonic fan since childhood, and I own all the non-Game Gear games/compilations up to SA2.  Most of what's after that has been a serious disappointment to me, and I just wish Sega would fix the camera/controls instead of trying to "improve" the series with bad voice acting, overwrought plot (not that plot is bad!), and more new characters than I can count.  Oh, and while I'm at it I ought to express my fervent prayer for the triumphant return of special stages.
Hopefully I'll be able to put up some Knuckles Chaotix records, since not too many people actually own it, and thus I won't have THAT many people to compete with (judging from the vids though, I've got some serious practice to do!).
For the time being, I'm just pleased to have found a Sonic fan community not overrun with furry fanfic writers (or worse, artists!).

Most forums I frequent don't really encourage introductions, so I hope I've done this right!
Speaking of other forums, Rolken, did you ever frequent a forum called Azure Heights?

*does a little dance* I welcome any and all Chaotix competitors (those were my vids, I have a different forum name).  And I welcome competitors to anything else.  Have fun here.  RPGnutter said his catch phrase, so it's official, you're a member.
<RPGnutter> Well I think your reasoning was dumb, so you get sassed
<RPGnutter> Thats how it works

Yea, I still visit Azure Heights actually, though for the past few years there hasn't been much to write home about.

Wow, that was fast, thanks for the warm welcome!  We'll see if I can't get something up before heading back to school!

As for Azure Heights, I haven't been back in years and I hardly ever posted, but the name looked really, really familar.

I like those artists...  But there's other places for that.  Also, you forgot RPers.  But again, that's not this place.

Nice to meet ya Shmoe.  Nice to see someone playing since who-knows-when (not like there aren't people like that).  Also, what do you think of the Advance series (Given two still leaves a bit to be desired)?

Well, to be honest, I never (blasphemy!) finished the first one.  This is not a function of the game, though, but a function of the fact that my first generation GBA is impossible to play on (no backlight, disgusting glare).  The DS Lite looks and feels amazing though, I may be purchasing one.....and if/when that happens, you can bet I'll snatch up Advance 2/3 and Rush!

I somehow didn't mind the original GBA back in the day; it was absurd on comparing it to a new shiny DS, which is equally absurd compared to how ridiculously bright the lites are.

Also I think it's safe to say we can all agree that advance 3 >>>>>>>>>>>> 2.

Hay guiz, I made a table showing how many points each game tracked by TSC is worth. You should go see it.
Also v2.0 of my TSC calculator is available to use. You should totally use it.
I update these every Monday around 2:30pm GMT.

I never really liked Advance 3.  Having said that, I never liked Advance 2 to play, just to TA.

Also, welcome to TSC!

TAing doesn't constitute playing? :S

I'm pretty sure it does, but with how confusing the net is today, you can't be too sure.
