Well, at least for Sonic '06, Times, Rings, and Scores divisions will be implanted (and maybe Secret Rings).  Can't say much about Rivals, since I don't plan to get it.

I can deal with Rivals since I AM getting it. Most likely Time and Rings. Score not so sure.

Sonic '06: yeah, it'll have Times, Rings and Scores for sure. I guess we'll have to wait until the game comes out to find out the stage divisions per character, etc.

Secret Rings: only sure about Rings and Times; not so much about Score - never seen a video that shows the final result screen or anything like that.

Times would be: Normal and Anniversary Mode (spin dash and all)

I was going to ask that, actually, but I wasn't sure. If anything, Anniversary Mode would be seperate. Guess that clears that up. :P

Hey everyone. I was playing Riders and I thought of something regarding our proposal...

Ignore the possibility that it may be too late for now (cause I'm not sure if it is or not, but anyway...) and just hear me out. Do you all think the Survival Battle divisions should have been divided by character? There are significant differences between each of the characters, as I've noticed both in the past and more recently when I experimented with each character. My findings are:

Categories - Boost Duration (seconds)/Type of Attack (Stop and Attack - S; I - Instantaneous)/Attack Length (seconds)

Sonic - 3 / I / N-A
Tails - 3 / I / N-A
Knuckles - 1 / S / 1.5-2
Amy - 3 / S / 1-1.5
Jet - 3 / S / 1-1.5
Storm - 1 / S / 1.5-2
Wave - 3 / S / 2-2.5
Dr. Eggman - 3 / S / 1.5-2
Cream - 1 / S / 2.5-3
Rouge - 1 / S / 1.5-2
Shadow - 1 / S / 1-1.5
NiGHTS - 1 / S / 1.5-2
Aiai - 3 / I / N-A
Ulala - 1 / S / 1-2
E-10000G - 1 / S / 2
E-10000R - 1 / S / 2

If this were to come through, I think Amy and Jet should be combined since there's practically no difference between the two of them. Others that could be combined would be E-10000 G and it's counterpart (even though E-G has a lesser limit on the select screen, they play the same way in this mode), and possibly Rouge and NiGHTS, Knuckles and Storm (Storm has a slightly longer attack but I don't find it to be a significant difference).

Just a thought, though. What do you all think. Any thoughts?

(I can't wait for the proposal results; I have so many new updated stats to submit for the games we've proposed! :D)

It's would be good, but then the same would have to be done with the Races and Time Attack divisions.  Every character performs differently, so if we divide the survival division, we'd have to divide the stats in every Sonic racing game TSC tracks among the characters.

I see what you're saying, though. It's a good point. It's just that there would only be two divisions (excluding Space Theatre; told 'em he didn't have to put it in cause it's not very skill-based) and each character performs differently in Battle Mode... but, again there's what you said.... UGH! Confused. :S

I've always, thought, though (going back to what you said), there should be another division seperating Normal/Default Gear from High Booster.

I don't know what to say about it, though... Should we or shouldn't we correct it? And if we do, how would characters be divided?

I think the Riders suggestions (and current charts) should stay the way they originally were.  If we change this, we'd have to change Sonic R's divisions to split it between Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Dr. Robotnik, Amy, Metal Sonic, Metal Knuckles, Egg Robo, Tails Doll, and Super Sonic.  It's just too much hassle.

And a quick note.  In Westopolis, 248 is the most number of rings you can get in that level.  I just re-did it to be sure, and now I am.

I think I would too.  I read it, but didn't wanna make a one-line post.

The way I see it right now, we're not getting a response.  Which means if you don't see any changes come TSC4, then there likely won't be for a long time.  I don't wanna look pessimistic, but I'm just statin' what I see.

EDIT: And for what it's worth, there was VERY brief talk of Special Stages and division restructuring in SPA tonight in chat.  Sign?  Likely not, but ya never know.

Hmm... well, like you said, you never know I guess. We'll just have to wait and see. It's been quite a while, though, hasn't it? I speculate that they'll be up in November when the divisions for Next-Gen Sonic are made.

And you weren't being pessimistic; I acknowledged that fact before, too, I'm afraid.

I see you crossed out Over the Bridge and Stop the Train from the start. What were the reasons behind them not being included? I don't recall...

I can't tell if this is the right topic for this but it says new competition suggestions so I assume it would go for any game.

SA2:

-Rankings for Mission 3,4 on Route 101/280. I can understand why mission 5 isn't on there, but why not have Mission 3 and 4? they're fairly challenging which would make for some interesting times(Especially M4 due to how difficult it would be to do it fast)

-Ranks for Mission 4 (except for hunting levels) seriously why not? just because it's the same as M1 basically,it still proves how good someone really is at a level, as opposed to people getting somewhat easy records because they can gather up 99 lives and restart until they don't screw up.

I'm sure both of these have been suggested before, but maybe those are good enough reasons to actually add ranks for them.

For the R101/280 m3 and m4, I agree.  They're a little more challengeing.

As for m4s, if we add those, we should add Team Sonic's extra missions in Heroes.

Kart M3: A significant part of getting a fast time in Mission 1 is to avoid the cars, so adding Mission 3 seems a bit repetitive to me.

Kart M4: Personally I'm not too interested (preferring to go all-out like in M1), but I guess it would work.

M4 time rankings in general: Well, in the Tails/Eggman levels in particular, you'd actually lose a bit of time from restarting at checkpoints, as you'd have to restart from a standstill.  So that lost time would somewhat balance out with the gained time from better execution, meaning the M1/M4 rankings wouldn't be much different.  I can see where you're coming from for some Sonic/Shadow levels, Cannon's Core, and maybe Eternal Engine and Cosmic Wall.  Still, it would look kind of odd if Mission 4s were only added for certain levels (even if we just left out hunting).  Also, I don't think a lot of people abuse checkpoints, at least not to an extreme.

Well it's just mainly I watched SM's Eternal Engineroom,and i'm not putting him down or anything but the amount of lives he used is kind of ridiculous, since I never use more than the 4 it gives you when I set a record time. Even without using alot of lives, i'm fairly sure the M4 times would be worse than M1's for the most part of Sonic/Shadow levels, I guess the walker levels would be abit different, because now i'm realizing alot are best to just do 1 solid run(Iron gate, Mission street, Hidden base and probably others I haven't played)

Maybe just M4 for Sonic/Shadow then?

I do understand what your saying about M3 though.

As I've already sent the PM, I have noticed that there are new proposals coming in not just from this topic but on others as well. I am contemplating developing another proposal PM for new proposals for TSC4 - as this is when Rolk said he'd think about adding our previous proposals. Thus far, I know that there are a few, so can people help me out by telling me what proposals have been proposed out there on the forums and we can, then, develop a new proposal!

I have also mentioned earlier that I will also make proposals for next-gen game divisions: Rivals, Secret Rings, Sonic Next-Gen, and Genesis. I will think about the newer proposals mentioned in this topic and begin to develop a list of potential suggestions for the second PM.
