Okay, there are indeed some various cheap tricks that were brought to my attention a while ago (thru GFs and RL). After seeing and actually trying out some myself, I simply don't think that these "tricks" should be allowed. One has already been blocked (the suicide glitch), but that's simply not enough, IMO.


You may or may not know this, but the Dark missions for Westopolis, Glyphic Canyon, The Doom, GUN Fortress, Lethal Highway, and Death Ruins have the potential for an almost infinite Dark score simply by continually reviving and killing a GUN Soldier.



As of now, we should do something about this trick in some way or another; I'd like to hear your suggestions.

Sounds like the tricks in SA2 that allow for insanely high scores that aren't allowed in score attack. I say either ban it outright or move it to free style. Basically, this trick you talk about works in any dark mission with a GUN Soldier enemy in the stage.

Well, if it has an infinite possibility, then it should be banned outright, since there's no limit to what you can do.

Then again, isn't the SA2B rule that you have to finish in 15:00:00 or less in certain missions?

I think that 15:00:00 is far, far too lenient for this problem. We need something stricter, because otherwise someone can easily get far more than 99999 if they do it enough. I'll make some average  times that would earn someone a B/C grade easily, or something to that extent. I'll eventually propose a solution, but if you have an idea to stop this, you could post it here.

Step 1: Get heal cannon.
Step 2: Find GUN Soldier.
Step 3: Kill.
Step 4: Heal.
Step 5: Repeat action 3 and 4 as desired.


Killing 1 GUN Soldier =150/200 pts, loss of/no points the first time because the hero points gained the first time around negates it.

How fast someone does it is relative to their skill, but basically any player that has quick responses can do it in below 2 secs (approx. 1.4 or so), meaning that since you lose 80 pts. for each second, you would actually be gaining points when compared to the time bonus considering the 150/200 pts. you get from a soldier. Remember, this is most likely to be done against a wall of some sort, so it's probably easy to use.

Rage/Dark mode gives you infinite ammo. Problem unsolved.

EDIT: Oh yeah, there's been a ruling on this: you may not revive a GUN soldier more than once. Do you like the ruling or not? Post here and talk about it.

Dark score always has unlimited potential. Rolken brought this point up a long time ago. Dark score also comes from destroying terrain. I think it's 20pts per piece of terrain destroyed. If you move away from the area and run back to it, you'll see that it's respawned. Try GUN Fortress. There is a lot of shit to destroy, break things up and walk away and back, you'll see that it's all respawned and will give you the points all over again. But to be honest, I really don't think someone is going to sit down and just keep doing this to get a really high score, if they do, they obviously don't have a life and are really desperate to win. Meh, I took a leave on Shadow, so I really don't know what to do. Meh.

EDIT: Well, I'll say get rid of Dark Score competitions, or impose a time limit to obtain a score since most of your score will come from your Time Bonus most of the time.

You said it yourself that it's infinite and I'm telling you that there are ways to get Dark score w/o abusing the GUN Soliders. You yourself said that you are against the time limit ala City Escape's limit so the most logical thing would be to get rid of them. Some n00b will defy that ruling anyway and it'd going to be too difficult to tell who's lying and who's not. If there is infinite potential, get rid of it, just like why Pinball Party and Spinball isn't here at TSC.

There's only one problem with that.

To be consistent, we'd need to completely overhaul Sonic Adventure 2's score rankings to include no Tails/Robotnik shooting levels at all.

How does everyone like that idea?

In regards to the terrain issue, I suggest a 8-12 minute max time for score attacking (exception for Mad Matrix since the dark mission is annoying enough to TA as is and there are relatively few destructibles there anyway).
Edit: I'll need to check this but I think you only get hero gauge filled for the first time you heal a GUN soldier.

Yeah, but when you kill the GUN soldier you get Dark gauge filled and when you keep killing the soldier, it'll keep increasng.
